Thank you for this comment. It was the first time I tried this combination. I have had critics mention the long legs and the angled front vs straight back but I needed this to be stable with such long legs. Barry, I love when some of your older videos (that I’ve previously seen) pop up in my feed. I watched another furniture artist’s video today (Crys’Dawna of Bella Renovare) and she painted, created different textures and more, using different techniques (take a min to watch if you haven’t already). A big point of her video was about art therapy, especially during these stressful times. But not just about us doing something (a piece, a canvas, etc) but watching her was just therapeutic. Point is, it’s like watching you work on a piece (the care, patience, peacefulness) and how therapeutic it is for you too. A lot of HCWs replied to her and again I thought of you. So thank you for your videos, as well as your service, especially after the last couple of years. You are greatly appreciated, for craft and your profession.💜

I'm in Price, Utah, you blow me away with your talent. Thanks for posting videos. We stripped all the woodwork from our 1912 craftsman. All the woodwork had several coats of paint on it. Luckily all the high baseboards, window and fancy door casings, and all the built ins were intact, just painted. It was a big job when we did it 25 years ago. We didn't have much of any idea what we were doing so we just dove right in. But we got the job done and for two people who didn't know anything much about stripping wood it turned out great.

Why do you want to know all this details about his business? I discovered the videos of furniture makeovers recently, and I'm really surprised that all the "flippers" gives us all the details about cost and price. To me it's not an information to share, at least not all the time at the end of every video. I'm French, so maybe it's a cultural thing... 😉
@rockshot1003 жыл бұрын
@@atanyh Non, Vous avez raison. Sorry bad French. I agree, it is interesting to know what kind of profit these people made, but it is really nobody's business. You make a good point. This also comes to no good. For example, if somebody buys a dresser for 5 dollars then works on it for 2 hours and sells it for 500, if I were the buyer, then I would be annoyed. At the same time, they could often take a great loss themselves. This should not be public info. In the meantime, could you tell these French women not to use the F word in public? The do not know how bad this sounds. We use the word a lot but only in private. THAT is a cultural thing.
@atanyh3 жыл бұрын
@@rockshot100 you're the only one that is agree with me... 🤭Don't know if it's a good thing haha. What F word? I'm not sure to understand what you mean, I have an idea though. This word we hear it a lot in films , videos, séries...
@rockshot1003 жыл бұрын
@@atanyh You know exactly which word! I believe that most people are sensible and agree with you. It will only make the buyer look like an idiot. But if they bought a piece of furniture of equal quality, now, it would cost much more. Yes, I am sure they use that word allot in DRAMA just to maintain attention, YOU and other French people, it doesn't mean much, and it really does not. BUT, our culture is not like that, we try to be polite. I know your cuss words and would never say them to a Frenchman, that I did not even know.

Hi from Wiltshire, England….my parents would often strip furniture (mostly antique pine) that had been painted in the 1960s and just use beeswax to feed the wood. I am a huge advocate of using old furniture again and have lots in my own home. It’s cheaper than new furniture and helps prevent it going to landfill….so a win win! Loving the videos…..😊

I know you probably didn’t want to add the paint, but I think it’s incredible! The black highlights the wood so nicely.

This made me laugh. It's like you know me. I did not want to add paint : )

@@MadCityModern It appears you and I like the same type of furniture and appreciate refurbishing. You pick nice pieces and really love them up. Having been born in 1955 .... mid century modern gets my attention. Your content is educational and moves along at a good pace.... and your shop is so clean and organized!
