It's only nice for today's taste, just as the original paint was for 1970's taste I bet the child who had it then was just as happy as who gets it now.

It's a different kind of satisfaction when you restore something which belongs to the past. Awesome work brother. Please take care of these as much as possible. God bless you 😊❤

Liked and subscribed. Also, I think I found the horse statue five times - three different places. 11:34 on the drawers 11:51 tail showing - upper left 17:24 on the drawers 17:55 on the drawers 22:14 on the table top

Barry, thank you for your videos along with commentary and music! You give a place to calm, think and reflect during these troubling times, so thank you very much, even if no one else needs this, I certainly do and it is deeply appreciated. I have enjoyed both your restorations and your journey/development in your craft. You are becoming very skilled at your chosen craft. I would mention in passing another YT channel you might enjoy; from what I consider a master in the craft of restoration Thomas Johnson from Gorham Maine. He is highly experienced in restoring antiques with both his decades of experience, his father who was a lifelong restorationist along with his brother, just a thought. Please keep up the wonderful work and your videos which are a very welcome distraction in my life.

A beautiful piece of work. My father was a woodworker making many pieces of furniture for us. I have a balsa wood miniture dry sink he made in a place of honor in my home. Watching you work your magic brings back memories of him.

Although the blue paint looked good (not the twine ball pulls), your bringing the dresser back to the natural wood and finishing it with Odie oil and cleaning the brass pulls makes it look ultra-special. My parents had a lot of Drexel Heritage furniture and it's high quality and held up well. God bless you!

I find the Lane Acclaim furniture so interesting because although I'm the same age as the furniture, I don't remember ever seeing it as I was growing up. Yet, it's so popular and valuable to mcm fans. Great video as usual, Barry. Thank you.

Nice Job Barry, I agree with another viewer who said you are very talented @ refinishing, but also talented at story telling ! My wife and I were in the Antique business in Otego, NY. My specialty became early decorated American Stoneware. I had many pieces from "Whites Pottery" in Utica, NY. However when we started we dealt in general antiques. Through the years we were fortunate to have many wonderful pieces, and always thought and wondered about who had owned them previously and what took place wherever they came from.. Many fond memories from that time in our lives and still have a few special pieces that we could never part with. Thank you for the video and for your genuine interest in bringing things back to their original beauty. PS I saw the horse 3 times..

Most interesting. I have a similar table, which I have been around since 1964. My desktop computer now sits on the table. When I was about to turn twelve, my dad thought his sons needed to appreciate agricultural. He bought a farm in central Oklahoma, Mulhall. This table was in the house. My dad always called it a “Library table.” It sure could use a refinishing. The few differences between mine and yours. The pulls are wooden knobs. The screws are capped with what I would call buttons. The drawer and connecting lower board, other than the pull, most similar. Mine has front to rear shelves on either side, about 4” above that connecting board. The finish is somewhat worse than yours started with, however, I do not believe it has any stains. I think my wife would through a fit should I decide to refinish the table. I was raised on that farm, my brother still lives there. It is kind of in blood to do such things. Pray for me and that table.

I have a cabinet with magazine racks on either side. My dad made it in shop class. My parents were married in 1944. I was born in 1948, so I was 9 in 1957. I also have an oak library table that my grandfather made in high school shop class. I like your show.

My grandfather, a mechanical engineer from Dayton, OH--who was born in 1900--drew and built a desk almost identical to this one when he was probably 14 or so. We still have it, although we've lost the blueprint he produced. My understanding is that this was a class project where each student would likely have produced a writing desk like this based on a sample from life. The quartersawn oak, the joinery and the finish is identical. Cool project. Thanks for posting it :)

I discovered your youtube channel a few days ago and I love it. I love your feel for the history of a piece and it's clear how much you love wood. I do too. In this really conflicted environment we live in today, I find your videos so peaceful. Thank you for showing us what you love - it gives me joy to watch how careful you are in your restorations and how much you pay attention to detail. It makes such a difference to the end product.
