Ep 9: Hiking from Switzerland to France on the Tour du Mont Blanc

That climb over Les Possettes is tough and probably one of the most technical parts of the TMB. We stopped at Le Boerne on the way back to Argentiere and spent the time to drink a beer with our feet and knees soaked in the horse trough just at the entrance. It reduced our ankles and knees enough to complete the walk to Argentiere ! Its a pity ye did not get the iconic photo from La Balme with Mont Blanc in the background. If I do it again i must try to visit some of the lesser know refuges ye did - as they seemed to have been a special experience. Well done.

The refuges were definitely worth checking out. Not always comfortable and never private, but a great experience... I wish I'd thought of the horse trough trick!

Ang, I haven't had a chance to comment on this series, but I've watched them as they've come out. Absolutely fantastic work. Cinematography, editing and content is as good as it gets. I'll never get there, but it has been a terrific trip vicariously. Thank you!

I remember Auberge la Boerne for its unique interior. It was the only time the dinner menu included fish (I don't eat pork or beef, and there were surprisingly few refuges offering chicken, either). I am pretty sure we three had that very same tiny room. But it was about 78 degrees indoors that night, no moving air, and not long after I went out and TRIED to sleep in the corridor instead. Big mistake, due to creaky floors and other people going to and from the bathroom all night ! XD

This is an epic journey Ang! Beautiful environment. I would need a few months to prepare for this...and still may have paid for a mule ride back down 😆, what was that, day one or two you saw those? 😁

no problem at all - i carried it in my backpack. no one gave it a second look. just make sure to carry on all of your batteries and store them in plastic baggies or something.

This time I'd like to comment that the ladies wear their packs wrong. Can't tell exactly, but it either sits way too high on their waste and thus on their shoulders. Or it is too large for their back length in the first place. Efficient weight distribution makes a huge difference!
