For the guy with the F350 with the 460 and C6 trans: You can also check the vacuum modulator on the transmission to see if it's giving you a vacuum leak-which will also cause pops and stuttering from a lean condition.

Hi Derek and Steve! Love your shows thanks for delving into Steve's background. Very interesting. Love hearing about the cars you have had. Funny Steve and I share some of the same car histories. My very first car was a 1962 Sunbeam Alpine!!!! I love catching glimpses of it in the intros to Roadkill Garage! I also had a 1970 Challenger convertible I restored and built a 340 for(my one and only engine rebuild and install). That when I realized how simple the old Dodge cars were. I had traded a 1974 Diesel Mercedes 240D I got from my grandmother when she stopped driving it. That car taught me how the Germans lost the war! Speaking of 1950's cars we had a 1953 Packard Caribbean convertible that was a total hoot too. When I got back from school I looked around for a mid year Corvette as I knew they were going to only get more expensive and found a 1966 327 Conv with a 4 speed and sidepipes that I still have 33 years later. I have an over heat issue that Im going to look into the timing as you have mentioned as well as a water pump. It has a BeCool Al radiator but will go to 220 degs other then that runs great. Keep up the great work guys ! Just give us more shows!!!! I loved how Derek would find cars far from his place and get dropped of with tools some parts and gopros and make a show! Crazy stuff. Loved it. PS The reason for Steves popularity he is like the "DUDE" Big Lobowski style and very Ernest with a crap load of automotive knowledge and history. He just knows it!!!! Guru style.

On the 400 in the 77 Trans Am, I believe it's like the other 400 Poncho's that have a water pump divider piece that can be rotted or missing. Either way, if it isn't diverting coolant behind the water pump, the engine developes hot areas and low block flow in spite of pump speed.
@mattdehart7744 Жыл бұрын
Also the gap between the plate and the impeller on the water pump needs to be as close as possible without rubbing. This helps improve cooling.
@MichaelRCarlson Жыл бұрын
Yup this. Guys forget to put that plate back in there all the time.
