oskat 2005 Hi. Where in the video does it say to automatically assume kids are in the spectrum? These are medical facts presented in a way that’s understandable to those of us not in the medical community so I don’t understand where “brainwashing” comes in.

@@oskat8981 I had no intention of brainwashing anyone, and I think I can rest in that truth without having to explain myself further. However I DO want to address your accusation: what I AM trying to convince people to do is to observe their children carefully and consider a professional assessment. With proper understanding of the problem, intervention can be provided, and the earlier that can be done, the better it is, not just for the individual, not just for the family, but for society as a whole. Information and education is the 1st step. I'm taking the time to reply to you, in spite of having all the marks of a troll, because it matters to me that facts outshine any unbiased opinions here. Have a wonderful life!

Is there such a thing as, "it's never too late" with autism? Say parents were in denial when their child was young and now that she is an adult, they have finally accepted it. Is it too late to undergo therapy?
@TeacherKayeTalks4 жыл бұрын
Good question, but I don't have a formula answer for several reasons. The first is that every individual is different. And then every case of Autism is different: type, severity, concomitant issues (example, Apraxia - a motor-planning disorder which I've seen many cases co-occurring in my practice). Then there's family acceptance, and support. What I can answer for sure is this: our neuroplasticity - the brain's ability to make new connections, to which all learning and rehabilitation are attributable - declines as we age. This explains why we learn the most when we are young. And Autism, as a development disorder, has to be addressed at the earliest possible age. This gives more time to come up with strategies to cope with the manifestations (especially when there is sensory processing disorder involved). But like I said, neuroplasticity declines BUT DOESN'T STOP, so yes, STILL seek intervention no matter what age. We can never foretell how things will turn out. Hope this helped you somehow! Thanks for attending my TED Talk LOL

Hello po, you're right. By 2 years old, magsisimula na po sila mag-combine ng 2 words unti-unti. Inom Baso?

Hello! Subukan niyo po muna ng 1 to 2 weeks, at tignan po natin if may mapansin kayong improvement sa behavior and overall attention. hello teacher kaye! may I ask po if ilang signs/symptoms ang kailangang makita bago ma-diagnosed na may autism. my son is 10 months old, he does excessive hand stimming like clapping, flapping, jumping since 5 months old, minsan tinutuktok din ulo nya. pero he is very attentive and has a strong eye contact. macoconsider na ba syang may autism nun
@TeacherKayeTalks3 жыл бұрын
Hi Maggie! Hindi po siya based on a number of symptoms, pero tinitignan ang kabuoan ng behaviors ng bata; kaya importanteng magpa-tingin sa professional, kasi hindi pwedeng magdiagnose ang kahit sino lang (kahit ako, hindi ako confident na mag-diagnose ng Autism). Ang main things na inoobserbahan ay ang kahirapan sa social communication, speech and language delays, and repetitive and restrictive behaviors (which were all you mentioned). Also, the onset should be early in childhood, but the average presentation is usually around 18 months. Yung jumping ng 10-month old baby may still be a reflex kapag sinusubukan natin silang patayuin? The clapping and flapping may also be because hindi pa naman complex ang movements ng isang 10-month old baby? Hope this response helps, and let me know kung paano ko pa kayo matutulungan. For now, best to keep observing until around 18 months old. ✨

Hello Francisco! ✨
