I think the trick is to heat fast.. don't linger. The longer you take, the more likely to cause fire stain. I struggle too.

Very nice sunflower pendant 🌻 If you want, you can use cutters instead saw when the sheet is that thin. I buy from our local flee market silver spoons and forks. They are all with stamps 813 and 830. I think that silver is called " antique " silver. Needless to say, 813 is 81,3% silver and 830 is 83,0% silver. That purity is enough for me. Sterling silver is so expensive today. ✌

It's hard to tell, definitely getting it cherry red will give you fire scale. I quinch in acid and seems to help, just need to be careful.

I never use copper if It's hidden like that. If I use copper accents, I'll still mark my silver as .925
