My wife and I owned Helene, a Trintella 40 ( same hull as your Victory, but finished out by a Dutch yard) from 1976 to 1981. We left San Francisco in 1978 on a 2 year voyage to Mexico, the Marquesas, the Societies and the Hawaiian Islands. Returned to SF in 1980 and started our family. Finding your videos brings back sweet memories. A great boat for ocean voyaging, and great to see you carrying on the dream. Enjoying the music too!

"Shaky Camera work" makes it genuine and "ReeeeaL" !!! Thank you for an Xxxcellent video ! I just wish that MORE of these professional video bloggers would point the cameras MORE @ the sailing and less @ their faces !!! It smacks of narcissism !!!

Don't show any fear young lady. It makes the captain nervous. You seem extremely capable in slightly heavy seas. Be proud of that and take water over the gunnels with a certain nonchalance. I think between the two of you, the boat is in good hands. Does my heart good to see you wearing safety harnesses. Rarely see that on the other channels. You have a wonderful boat and good crew. Take good care of both. You'll learn to love the heavier seas in no time.

I just love the cockpit and poop deck on Bora Bora. It is a fabulously liveable boat from what I can see.
@Nozzall2 жыл бұрын
You can do that with a Solent rig because the headsail and jib are so close together on the fore deck. Then you open them up into a butterfly configuration and drop the main sail when you have a following wind. It asks like a kite to pull you forward through the water.

Thanks for that lovely trip down memory lane. You have a lovely ketch; we had something similar but older, a 38' Atlantic Power ketch called "My Fair Lady". Cheralie and I left Plymouth in September 1996 and arrived off Formentera one year later after wintering in Lagos. I was looking for somewhere to address my PTSD problems after 20 years on the front line in the Royal Marines. Espalmador was the perfect place and we spent the best part of the next 4 years in this region. After 18 years aboard our son Tom had outgrown his bunk and Cheralie had had enough. We sold the ketch from San Antonio to a very nice German, who took her to Fleetwood (!) and we moved ashore into a small casita one mile inland from that great free port, where we now live. I don't miss the boat because, as your film shows so well, the Med can be a right bitch. Give me the Atlantic any day. We lived the dream. Now it is time for other dreams to come to fruition. Fair winds and following seas.

If you don’t get wet, cold, a bit bruised and get at smile in your face it’s not sailing. I normally sail the Scandinavian waters year around and love to sail in skagerak, so maybe I’m to used to this kind of weather witch seems normal for me. 30+ wind and 40+ gust is when I feel I’m sailing and living.

Compliments to S/v Bora Bora..😊. Shortly me and my man shall quit the comfortable life by moving on board our 411 Oceanis and in a couple of years begin our trip if not before. Unfortunately, I'm doing it a bit late... In your way of thinking, but I believe we're never to old to do anything it's just a case of being able to escape from responsibilities that have cropped up in life.... We cannot programme to perfection. Anyway 'Bravo', and compliments for good nerves.... Something I'll have to work on 😉.. But the holistic natural resource concept is also another side of my interests too. Who knows with all these wonderful videos from fellow sailors, we'll be able to add one more. Keep safe and godbless all at sea!😊

Hello You Two. I liked your video but it convinced me I made the right choice. I headed NORTH to the Baltic instead of the Med. It was more pretty, much cheaper and the weather much better. I have friends who did what you have done and they hated it so much (they were VERY good sailors by the way) she went home by plane and he put his 39 foot boat on a lorry to take it back to the Netherlands. I have sailed the Baltic since 1963. The season is shorter but the enjoyment multi fold. Try it and let me know. Best regards Michael

I thoroughly enjoyed this video because it showed the two of you in action in a variety of sea states both sailing upwind and with the wind and the challenges of being in different anchorages, some sheltered and some not and how uncomfortable it is to stay in a rolly anchorage, which impacts on how well you are rested. I sometimes wonder when sleeping in such conditions you wouldn't sleep better if you had some type of hammock set-up down below. I think it would help reduce the motion or the sense of motion.

make some rubber hose's about 1 1/2 ft.long and where your ropes hang over the boat for line's,fender's,etc.Have the line's inside the hose,soit'll save the rope's from rubbing on edge of boat.the rubber will protect the rope's,.always keep mayonase in the fridge,or it can make you very ill,and you could even die,mostly at sea.just sayin.''Nice boat,and Fair wind's Mate
