Apologies, Christopher. I am not sure about the Max dims. If I had more space, then I would have gone 3m x 2m pond with front to back bracing at the top centre.

Hi Ben, no regrets so far. Pond is holding up well. The only challenge is excessive sunlight in summer as I haven't built a roof over the pond.

@Fishaholic2 жыл бұрын
Hi mate, it is too strong for sure. I wanted to build a pond that can stand for years to come. The glue I have used is the cheapest available at bunnings. I have used it in the past and it is extremely strong. You shouldn't have any issue if you decide not to use any glue.

Hi. I am in the UK and want to have this built (I am not good at carpentry). I am wondering about the glass thickness. I want to build the frame 6.5ft but 1.5ft of that will house a pump, so the pond area will be 5ft long, 4ft high and 3ft wide. the glass i was thinking 4ft x 3ft. How thick do I need the glass please.
@Fishaholic2 жыл бұрын
Hi Lynda, My Pond is slightly bigger than yours but the height is almost the same. I have used a 140cm x 60cm - 25mm 'thickness' toughen laminated glass. Pond has been up for a year now without any issues. I am not a carpenter and have only basic skills that I learnt from watching videos on KZbin. As long as you have some help, you should be okay. This project will be expensive though due to cost of timber, liner and glass
@lyndahines75542 жыл бұрын
@@Fishaholic I am going to use recylcled timber to get the cost down. Thank you for your advice. I love your pond. Ive started with a half barrel pond and instantly wanted a bigger one. lol. then I saw your video and that was it. It was doable. Thanks again.

@rickyturner223 Жыл бұрын
Although I'm a fan of if it's worth doing it's worth over doing fishaholics 25mm toughened laminated glass is overkill for something that size. I'm not knocking it if it's available and you can afford it the thicker the better but realistically 25mm glass is going to be literally bullet proof and therefore very expensive. I've been out of the glass industry about 17 years but my recommendation would be 7.3mm toughened laminate. It's made up of a 5mm piece of toughened glass a 0.3mm plastic and then a 2mm piece of normal glass. You want to mount it with the 5mm piece on the inside. Even 7.3mm laminate isn't cheap but it's far more readily available and sensibly priced and should be strong enough to hold what you want it to 😊
@Fishaholic Жыл бұрын
I completely agree with you, Ricky. Pond Glass was $ 784, which was expensive back then and will be more expensive now due to inflation.
