It's time to learn how to play SAGA - a wonderful 'historical' game set in the Dark Ages. Vikings, Saxons, Celts ... love it. I hope you follow along as we continue the series!

@@RubbishInRubbishOut You could easily do a quick video about V2 and the major differences between it and V1, could just be a top off to your previous series :)

Many thanks for this - I'm putting together a couple of forces for SAGA (although they'll be Westerosi Game of Thrones-themed, Starks vs Lannisters) and this helped brilliantly!

Thanks mate ... its a wonderfully simple, yet at the same time, complex game that is proper fun! I'm sure I've got a few things not quite right, but I've been having a blast and I'm looking forward to producing a lot more content for this great game. Can you send me a link to the Saga Forum you're talking about, I'd love to check it out and poke around. Cheers.

Does it matter what weapons you model on your units? If they're bows or slings, if you only model them on a few of the levies or warriors , does that group get fewer ranged shots?
@RubbishInRubbishOut7 жыл бұрын
ChemicalLife is been a while since i played but i believe levies are armed with sounds and warriors with bows. levies are cheaper but only get (don't quote me! ) 1 shot per 3 models, warriors are more expensive but get 1 shot per 2 models. i could be wrong, as i said, it's been a while ... but yes, there is a difference between bows and slings.
@RubbishInRubbishOut7 жыл бұрын
ChemicalLife I'm a fairly relaxed gamer so on relation to your question, if 50% of the ranged unit had ranged weapons I'd be happy that. wysiwyg is nice but not always practical given model collections etc.
@RubbishInRubbishOut11 жыл бұрын
I dont see why not ... though remember, Levies do not generate SAGA dice, and you need those to activate units and use special abilities - your Warlord generates 2 dice, so in theory you should be able to play just fine with a smaller points level

Hey mate ... quite a few places around town sell SAGA. mind games on Swanston Street in the city. Ian over at KayJays Hobby café in footscray (west) would be happy to sort you out, allan at house of war in Ringwood (west) would be equally happy to help.

Hullo there, I really enjoyed this video (and probably will the others...) and think it will help my little group as we are just starting on our journey to play the game, one thing I wanted to say as it really put my teeth on edge every time I heard it, the word is pronounced "harth" to rhyme with "bath" not "herth". Sorry, whingeing pom here, had to get it off my chest, but really no hard feelings intended :) oh and just one more thing, I would beat you hands down were it necessary to decide a draw :P
@RubbishInRubbishOut10 жыл бұрын
hehehe ... my beard isn't very impressive these days! I did know that ("harth vs "herth") but its just become a bad habit! Thanks for watching and the comment, I'm glad you found the video useful! Cheers, Viv

This game was not made to appeal to females ...especially on ties...facial hair? Uh huh...games like 40k and fantasy and warm aching even appeal to females....
@RubbishInRubbishOut9 жыл бұрын
hahaha ... we rarely use that 'rule', most ties are usually solved with a dice role.
@theclash249 жыл бұрын
RubbishInRubbishOut yeah I hear ya-- it looks like warhammer-ish ...a bit...I don't think people play this game around me...ashburn, VA-- northern VA...it looks like some fun especially since army sizes aren't big you don't have to spend 300+ dollars for a decent army like GW products. I'd totally paint mine like HOUSE STARK from game of thrones and leave shield decals off and paint the wolves on their shields and make mini banners with the wolf head on it :P (Which army has all the wolf pelts...I've seen a couple of the guys with wolf pelts)
@RubbishInRubbishOut9 жыл бұрын
The Vikings have a unit of Hearthguard called Berserkers, they are only a small unit (4 men) but the 'official' models have them running around in not much more than just the wolfskin. House Stark colours would look great! looking forward to season 5, but looking forward much more to the next bloody book! I've been waiting YEARS!
@brendanmatthews82368 жыл бұрын
+theclash24 I've actually moved to Leesburg, and i hear Huzzah Hobbies in Ashburn does SAGA, as well as other historical games, regularly on Thursdays. I'm looking into it myself, and there's a tournament end of the month.
@theclash248 жыл бұрын
Brendan Matthews 46 weeks ago I was talking about this lol! I just received my kingdom death monster game 2 weeks ago. It is sooooo good. I was gunna pick up saga and paint them like house stark-- but saga is not in the cards due to KDM and FO4 coming out and star citizen in the works. Plus everyone and their mom plays games Thursday night at huzzah...it's really hard for me now to make huzzah on weekdays since I moved a further from it :/

The death of wargaming as we know it. You cant really believe manufacturers would be so stupid... so i got my warband... my Very expensive rule book...my expensive buildings and a tiny amount of figures.. Its all the wrong way round, the add on bits should not cost way more than the figures..this crazy.. My Saxon army for regular wargaming has 12 x 48 man units, plus L/I bow,jls,sling.. thats a wargames army... with a few small huts, and a rule book that cost £5....a few years ago now. Why the fuss...wargaming is dying on its ass, and you can see why with rules like sage manufacturers will not survive...
