Very cool I spent a lot of time in Echo Bay as a kid. We grew up on the floatcamps in that area and so did my mother. My Dads parents gave up floatcamp life and built the Echo Bay Hotel in the 30s so that’s where Dad grew up. Mom and Dad both went the Airforce during the war but got a floatcamp and us kids lived that life too. Echo Bay at Nannies hotel was a common thing for us. Everyone from all around would meet there almost weekly to wait for the freight boat/passenger boat. Of course I could go on for hours with stories but just wanted put my two it’s worth in. Thanks for having us along.

Thanks for another great video, Nick! Truly a pleasure to watch. Fun fact - Did you know that our boats share a common link? They were both owned for a period of time by the same person. Now you have to guess what my boat is. 🙂

Its excelerating to see the porpoise having a great time riding the bow wave of your beautiful boat. It's like being at the carnival for them. Also, I believe they use the dynamics of the wave to use less energy while propels g them through water. How fantastic is that. Great video Sir. I envy your life style, & wish I were forty years younger, so perhaps I could do something similar. But alas, it's too late for that , but others surely should consider it. It's magical.

Nick, how about a bit more info on the wooden boats you pass and visit, this one was a beauty, but the footage was too little and too short - please Guess I’d love to add, how about a map of the First Nations groups, it would be great to see their relation to each other as well as the various islands and how about some merch as a way to support you and Argonaut II

You always make me hungry with your vids Nicholas (hope i spelled your name correctly). And as always your vids make me jealous of your adventures.i know it's not all rainbows and sunshine cruising with a fairly large MV, but it sure looks like there are some pretty sweet perks. So i had a couple questions for you. 1) How often do you change your oil in the Gardner and what brand, viscosity, and weight do you use (ie: 15-40, 10-30 etc...)? As I am sure that the specific type plays a large role in how well the engine runs, given what I imagine would be fairly large temperature swings from start-up to run temp and changes in temp day to day and season to season. Not to mention for the longevity of the engine as well. 2) I believe you like to read. Who is your favorite or favorites and what type of reading do you enjoy? Do you have any recommendations? Would you like any recommendations? The BC coast has some amazing scenery. Thank You for sharing it. Thank You for your hard work in putting out these videos. So, I'm considering joining your Patreon. How much would be a good donation to give monthly, or weekly if you prefer? I'm sure the more the better but I'm disabled and on a fixed income, but can afford a reasonable sum. Just looking for a suggestion as I've no idea what your financial situation is or how many people are supporting your dreamy life style. Hope all is well, and you know, it is not always necessary to show when you slice yourself, especially a close-up in slow motion! Geez that made me wince and turn away! You got me good!

Hi Eric, thanks for your comment. I am going to try and answer your questions here: 1. I change my oil annually, and use a 15-40 weight. There is a prior video I put up going through an oil change right before the start of my trip. 2. I do enjoy reading, although haven't been doing much of it this summer which surprised me--I was very busy hosting and video editing--these videos have consumed all my free time. I enjoy mostly non-fiction books, particularly historical adventure books or books on exploration. 3. I so appreciate your consideration in becoming a Patreon. I have a few options to contribute to this project/Argonaut II listed on my website, and any contribution is much appreciated. I am working to try and build a community around this boat to continue producing videos as well as funding some major restoration projects this boat needs that I cannot do on my own.

Beatiful scenery and would have loved to see that other vintage fantail yatch. You might want to get yourself a filiting glove to save your fingers.. they are usealy stainless steel mesh or small rings but i believe they may do man made plastic materials ones now. Handy for dealing with recalcitrent crabs as well.

Presumably the Argonaut II is named for the mythological tale of Jason and the Argonauts. However, Jason’s ship was named the Argo. The Argonauts were his crew. Like astronauts.

If there is a sign saying "private" then you have a point. If you have built something for others to use then having someone clutching their pearls like a HOA Karen then you miss the point of community structures.

@@MV_Argonaut the cabin was constructed by Wuikinuxv community members in the late 80’s and is referred to as the “Clam Beach Cabin”. The area itself holds cultural significance to the Wuikinuxv people as it is a seasonal village site since time immemorial, and the cabin itself has been utilized by many community members over the last 3-4 decades. This cabin was constructed with the intent for community members to have a safe place to take shelter while spending time on the territory to participate in harvesting, hunting, monitoring, stewardship, spiritual and cultural activities. As you can see, it is need of some TLC and our Nation is working on securing funding for that right now so that this important piece of infrastructure can be utilized by our future generations for cultural and environmental stewardship preservation.

It has been well-utilized over the last several decades and is affectionately referred to as the “Clam Beach Cabin”.
