That took me back to when we constructed our 60' narrowboat from flat sheets of steel ourselves back in 1980, a dirty job cleaning steel off but so worth it. We have known Paul Barber a good number of years, he has built some amazing boats, very nice chap, you could not have selected a better person.

50 years ago I started painting/refinishing cabinets/ houses with my father and we had none of those tools! We used to have to use liquid stripper and what a mess that was. As Vic said, what brilliant inventions for getting that old paint off. Loads of fun to watch guys. Thanks very much;)

Hi Vic and Jo! Really enjoyed watching you prep your boat. Hard work, but great results. We as a family love every video you post:) A question though, did you have the paint tested for lead content? If not, you should still take some paint chips to get them tested. If it does report as lead paint, you yourselves should be blood tested for lead within thirty days. Not to alarm you, but this precaution should be taken. Regards, Eleanor, Marina and Grant

What about the paint scraping for the bits around the being, under the roof outside the doors etc? Is that part of the process too? What Matthew said! We don't often get things stuck around it but some canals are worse than others, either weeds or rubbish that's lurking at the bottom of the canal :-)

Did you just dump oiling water into the canal???

We're enjoying your videos. Question: Where's Jo from and what language is she speaking? 😍

What a remarkably ignorant question you ask about the language being spoken. To have a regional accent is perfectly acceptable in England although even today a northern accent can be a negative in the eyes of some holier than thou chinless wonders. You should apologise for your behaviour.

Hi, Is this one of Beacon Parks old boats?
@HollyTheCafeBoat
@HollyTheCafeBoat 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Chris, it wasn't but I've just googled Beacon Parks and I can see why you would ask! They looks very much like inspection launch boats which Holly was based on. I'm going to look at more of them now for some inspiration. Thanks!

what is the purpose of the "weed hatch", why are weeds in the boat?
@scottphillips7108
@scottphillips7108 4 жыл бұрын
It's the region near the propellor which when spinning through the seaweed and brush in the canal gets clogged up... It can cause the prop to become unbalanced or break apart... Props are not cheap... Hence why the weed hatch need to be cleaned often...

Exactly what Scott said :-D

So the weed hatch is basically a well through the hull above the propeller? And the insert you removed forms the hull bottom plate above the prop, which is removable to clean the prop? Greg
