When I was at BYU back around 1984, our student ward had a bro. LeBaron as a counselor in the bishopric who had an RM son. He told me that he had to go through a lot of interviews by the church to serve in our bishopric because of what his family had done. He seemed like a good guy.

I have not seen the documentary. I just wanted to express my sympathy and admiration for Liz and her family.

My grandfather, George Andrus, would take apples 🍎 to Rulon’s home. He also would dress as Santa and visit Rulon ‘s house on Christmas Eve. My dad, David, was the driver and was told to wait in the car.

My grandmother (born in 1889) had nothing good to say about polygamy - her grandfather had 5 wives and 51 children! Mainstream Mormonism! I’m directly related to the ugliest wife! The old photos were not becoming.

Sorry I did not enjoy this one. There are human aspects in everything everywhere but Landon nailed it - he percieved the “glorifying” of poligamy although she denied it. Poligamy can NEVER be acceptable - to me. The damaged dynamics thereof are just not acceptable!!! No matter the amount of love involved it is just too screwed up and psychologically devastating for all involved.

This was a weird episode. I don’t know what to think about it because I don’t understand it at all. Several strange things were talked about.

You need to watch Daughters of the Cult on Hulu. Basically Liz’s grandfather who was leader of a polygamous group in Utah was murdered by the leader of a polygamous group in Mexico. The whole story is fascinating.

My friend Dorothy Allred Solomon wrote a book called “ in my Fathers house” she told of how her mother felt and how the women felt about themselves. The night mare of not being the 1 st wife. Dorothy left and married monogamously

This left me conflicted and if I'm being completely honest, a little angry... The guest kept speaking of the trauma her family experienced by losing Allred and seemed dismissive of the trauma daughters who escaped LeBaron experienced...
