“Stealing my livelihood” so “rescuing kids” is his livelihood (rather than actually helping kids)? This whole “rescuing the kids” stuff reminds me of Lance Armstrong using his work with Livestrong as a shield to hide his use of performance enhancing drugs (bad acts). It’s an old strategy used again and again by dishonest grifters.

We are a podcast about Mormons, this is why we exist? Would you be addressing us about this if we titled it Groomed by Catholics? Why? Because you aren’t interested in Catholics you are interested in Mormons just like us. We didn’t make this claim, Jyle’s parents did and it is clear you didn’t even watch the podcast so maybe you should do that before jumping to conclusions and making comments.

oh yes, do an episode of the "Elder Gene Cook meets Mick Jagger on a plane" story! I live in Toronto. Back in 2003, prior to the SARStock benefit concert (the city had a SARS epidemic happening which had basically shut down the city's economy), in which the Rolling Stones were going to appear, the ward members got an email from the Stake warning members not to go to the concert due to the concerns of the Stones' Satanic influence. The letter included the entire text of Elder Cook's talk in which he talked about meeting Sir Mick on a plane, Mick's admission that he had taken the discussions while at college, and his confession that the Stones' whole purpose of their music was to get teens to have sex. Personally I think that Mick did meet Elder Cook, but knowing the British like I do, he decided to have fun with him in what is called "taking the piss". In other words, confirming Cook's confirmation bias of what he thought the Stones and rock n' roll was, and watching Cook's eyes bug out in horror. All I can say is that it's fortunate that Cook wasn't seated next to Keith Richards. :) The other thing about the letter - I was surprised that they didn't have a warning about AC/DC, who were also on the bill and also notorious in Christian circles as "agents of evil." And that they didn't warn Randy Bachman, who was still TBM at the time and playing with The Guess Who at that gig. FWIW, my TBM sister-in-law did attend the concert with my niece, who went there to see Justin Timberlake.

Thank you Rebecca! I always felt the same way growing up in the church as you! Always embarrassed, never believing, knowing the B.S. from being very young. I hated hearing about magic underwear, and other embarrassing aspects of the church. I refused to go on a mission, devastating my TBM family. I never fit in with the church growing up. I couldn’t wait to get out of my parents house after high school. Then I married a non-member, and my family influenced her to join. Now I’m the black sheep again after I tried to get out. My daughter went to BYU and it killed me inside. I cannot escape this Fu@$@;G church!

So! Go to any LDS temple site and find one that is ugly, or brought crime, poverty or diminished property values. You won’t ever find one, because the temple isn’t just a building, it is a house of the Lord. It attracts goodness, righteousness, love, truth and beauty.

I am a Christian. I have studied Mormon doctrine. Never been a Mormon myself. The LDS church is of the devil, no doubt about it. All of their doctrine contradicts the bible. It just appears to agree with the bible but that's because of all the deception.

I noticed that when people talk about Prophets, Seers and Revelator it focuses on Joseph Smith who wrote ancient scriptures and made future prophecies. None of the discussion revolves around the current First Presidency and Apostles other than the semi-annual arm waving. In other words, none of the current Apostles don't even fit the Prophet, Seers and Revelators don't even follow the model set by Joseph Smith on a superficial level. I pointed this out to my Bishop that this is the reason I can't sustain the current group as Prophets, Seers and Revelators. Despite this rejection and not accepting the church is restored, my Bishop allowed me to go to the temple because I do live like a Mormon. I guess I got lucky with the Bishop roulette. I do feel God's power at the temple which brings me great joy. I am against the current approach of forcing the mega temples down the small communities throats.

Lol, I'm sorry but this is to funny. I live in Utah and I am a non active Mormon. They have many things that I don't agree with, but mostly this is mostly the typical stereotype stuff that the rest of the country has about Utah and Mormons in general. A lot of people think they are some weird cult or something. Truth is it's just another religion that most people don't understand so that makes them a strange cult. Utah has many religions, were not all Mormons. Sorry to say but some people just need to get over it and themselves. They seem happy! Just leave em alone lol.

I went to the World's Fair in Spokane in 1974 with my member friend. She took me to the Book of Mormon Pavilion, and I purchased a Book of Mormon for a dollar while there. She excitedly shared the big news with her parents and later with the missionaries. I was puzzled by what the big deal was about me getting the book. I was baptized shortly after that and read through the entire Book of Mormon at least once a year for the next thirty-some years because I thought if I read it enough, eventually I would discover that it was a book worth getting excited about. That never happened. It was a dumb book in 1974 and it is still a dumb book today. I wish I had paid heed to what Mark Twain had to say, and trusted my own impressions. Thanks for a fun video. 💜

As a non-Mormon and ex-Catholic (now Unitarian) I sympathize with denominations like the CoC like I do with most other liberal denominations, I wonder if it is to the Utah church what the Episcopal church is to the Catholic Church (basically pretty similar but more accepting) and I hope the money they got at least helps them on paying the bills or do charity. It probably should’ve been 1 billion or more considering what the amount of money the Brighamite branch has.

I have been involved in the Marriage Equality Movement since 1992. My commitment to Equal Justice under Law is constant. However, it's important for us all to recognize the role of the General Authorities of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It is not the same role as local Priesthood and rank and file members. Also, it's important for us all to understand that each level of the above has its own responsibilities and they are not one in the same. That's why the baptized are commanded to receive the Holy Ghost. Each one will get their own guidance depending on the inspiration of the Holy Ghost to the individual. Until we reach into the above understanding, many of us will be confused. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is going through another close place right now and, without understanding the various lines and levels of the Spirit's guidance,.many will only see it as chaos. However, I don't see chaos. I see a diversity of levels of roles and responsibilities. During times of immense transition, it's important to be kind to ourselves, to each other, and the principles of Love, Light, and Truth will reach us into Eternity. Blessings 🙌
