I am SO GLAD that I watched this particular segment of your journey, because watching those projects leading up to this final kitchen reveal were torcher for someone like me with OCD and a neurotic grama’s need for order!! 😵‍💫🥺 God bless you both for sharing your saga of toil, frustration, disappointments and failures. We stumbled across Levi's in Ballydehob and then continued through all of West Cork on our last visit in March 2023 after some serious family illnesses. We are both artists and teachers and our kid is a musician. West Cork hit every heart string imaginable. What a stunning part of the country and the World. The community we found thriving there is so special. We are both one generation off from being able to get citizenship but our dream is getting a tiny place, restoring it and creating a Story Refuge for anyone and everyone. We will do it!!! Just sayin it out loud :) Thank you for sharing this journey. We gutted a 110 year old place (while pregnant, easier than kids running around) and it took the life out of us. I can't imagine filming and editing at the same time too. That takes LOADS of time and sharing it takes an extra big heart!!! It's just stunning!!! Again, many thanks!!!

Sterling job! Your artistry shows! I have no opinion about the colour in the holes, but I would seal all the cupboard doors& holes. A matt polyurethane type of product, as the ply will continue to absorb oils, finger marks and will be impossible to clean. Moisture will get into the ply through the unsealed holes. I would look for a wax if you’re understandably not keen on the poly. Interesting facts about Irish setters, Rooney is the sweetest. Once again, congratulations 👏👏 😊. Cheers from Oz.

That kitchen turned out 1000 times better than I ever expected. I think that deserves at least 2 glasses of wine, not one. I like the holes in the cupboards un stained. The touches of wood with the black all around blend nicely. And the hole is easier to find in dimmer light, not so if it were stained. Love your house. Can’t wait to see what comes next. I like the contrast of the natural wood in the holes against the stain , hard to believe when ye were tearing down the old shed it could be transformed into a beautiful kitchen and family space ! It really is an amazing job ! Well done both of you 😊

Another idea is where you have drilled those holes and used as handles , I would get hardware that actually requires a hole and recesses into the hole , leaving a metal that you see, and looks really great.

Your finished kitchen look lovely, I’m sure you will make many happy memories and great food in it. I would stain the pull holes, otherwise the dirt will that will inevitably build up on them will be unsightly, or varathane them to maintain the lighter colour and make them easier to clean.

Just an idea. I built a large rolling tool cabinet on wheels, I used a black stain like your cabinets, but then I put a satin polly coat over it to help protect from nicks and bumps.

Beautiful kitchen and living room! It’s modern with a soul. As for holes 🕳️ it does look better with raw wood but it will be tricky to clean that holes from time to time. You know, it’s a kitchen and there is grease… when it is stained it’s protected and you can use wet cloth with product… So, I suggest to stain it BUT in light color so it looks like raw wood 🎉 😊

Greetings from gorgeous Mayo to gorgeous West Cork. Lovely windows Clare! Nice finishing work on the kitchen Rob and Clare. And I bet both of you are glad to have another room done (bar tweaks). The window reveals are chefs kiss. Overall, you’ve worked so hard, you deserve your fabulous kitchen. the personal items in the kitchen are fantastic and tell your story. By way the Japanese doll on the shelf- my sister has the same one (in a glass case cos it’s a posh one)! My Japanese sister in laws parents brought it as a gift to our mother when they came from Japan for her wedding to my brother. The doll has always been known affectionately in our family as ‘ touchee nottee!’. I would stain the cabinet door holes only because they will likely discolour with use and could make them look grubby. Or you could wait as Clare prefers and if that happens, stain them then.
