Cool! I've been looking to understand the T/S parameters and you've added a bit of insight. Thanks!

The content is great. Really helped me understand the Thiele-Small measurements. The lack of a tripod or steady camera man made it a little difficult to stay focused though.

Hey, could you give me a pointer? Sorry, i ran into your channel by accident and had a thought. So i've gotten these speakers, Magnat Monitor Supreme 100, which is a funny name since pretty much all words in it seem to not be quite true, and i knew this beforehand, but it's from a family member and i didn't manage to berate them before they bought them. Anyway they're mine now. I haven't opened them up yet to see what the crossover looks like, but the sound those things make is pretty horrid. A bit of a bass hump with little actual bass extension, which i'm willing to almost ignore, sharp and unpleasant highs and worst of all very muddy mids, and the sound is least muddy a good bit down from the middle, like 15-20° or so, which might be an indication of what to expect inside, which is probably very very little. I also have ELAC BS52 and those sound like a dream to me. Anyway ELAC are a $500 pair and it is my understanding that they got Magnat for around $50 on a discount, but if i knew they were looking for such cheap speakers i would have likely advised them to get Mivoc.... well i digress. Aaaanyway i used to read up on things a lot back in the day, i have Dickason's book i bought 10+ years ago somewhere, i'm not too terrible with a soldering iron and have basic electronics engineering knowledge, and i was thinking, what if i can make the Magnat sound... less horrible? I understand part of the sound character is due to the Mylar dome, but if we're willing to ignore that, i understand there must be a more fundamental issue with them, likely that they will benefit from steeper crossover flanks and some measures to tilt the neutral axis closer to horizontal. But by now i pretty much forgot everything, and nowadays, what's the most convenient way of handling that? I understand that Magnat uses customised speakers, i'm going to have to measure them to get at the parameters, or best detailed measurement i can plug into the simulation (Visaton's Boxsim?) to start working on a new crossover, so what's the most convenient way of doing this these days, assuming i can spare barely no money at all? I am more or less willing to develop custom measurement software and publish it as free/open-source if i have to.
