I feel so bad for the non-member residents in the neighborhoods of these temples. Thank you for covering this.

Like corporate gentrification Where there are areas set up for people to gather and socialize but if you do a security person will come around and ask you to move on. They only look inviting to the public. Then as time goes by you will see more and more of the outside tables and benches disappear. The whole set up is to lure in shoppers and when you purchase something they want you to go elsewhere as fast as you can.

What a "concession" on that steeple height!! 15 feet is a less than 10% reduction. Wow

It's so condescending to say residents in opposition are just "misunderstanding."

I'm glad you addressed picture angles. I laughed audibly when visiting the website and seeing the weird angles they used to try and show how small they want us to think the temple will look.

I know y'all keep apologizing for your outbursts, but it's so validating to see that others feel the way I do. More people should be outraged!! This is completely reprehensible. The veil of half truths the Church spews has GOT to burst. 😑

I just learned of the "Vision in the Night Sky" story on the church's website. Just think, Brothers Brigham and Heber would never have been able to see it if a bright temple was nearby.

The light pollution of the temples shows how much out of touch the church is with the youth which is very concerned with the environment.

Okay so while I was working, and typing out a plethora of comments under an article about this on Facebook, something just hit me. There is the high five interchange in Dallas where US 75 and I-635 meet, and it is one of the tallest interchanges in the US at 120 feet. This temple would be 40' - 50' taller than even that. Anyone who is local to DFW would immediately get the comparison. In fact US 75 and the high five would be on the way from Fairview/McKinney to the Dallas temple. I would love to see someone with the talents to put the mock up of the temple next to the interchange for comparison..... @Mormonish Podcast - if anyone comes to the 6 August meeting, you should go to the Dallas Temple and pass by the high five as well. Seeing what the area already has for the temple, how busy it is or isnt, the area, etc would offer a good perspective for the excessiveness that this proposed temple represents.

Kids and many adults not even allowed in them. It’s a members only club. The meetinghouses are fine. Thank goodness they are not 200 foot tall.

I still want to know how it is that the Dallas area has enough active Mormons for 3 temples . Theres one in Dallas , they’ve accounced one in Fort Worth and now this one .. that’s three in the DFW metro area …. How many active Mormons are they ?

@coalhouse1981 not sure maybe 100K?? The Dallas temple is not as busy as they say. Maybe build one more but two more?? Uh no.

2:20:29 Oh my gosh this was my letter! I wrote a second one directed towards members too. I wish it had had a bigger change, no members spoke in opposition at the meeting. Big shout out to the lobbyist Nathan Taylor who I’ve spent some time talking to. He worked so hard to get that community heard, but he was up against an impossible force.

If I could mix church and state, I’d use this website to teach persuasive and argumentative writing- they’ve really dialed in those rhetorical devices and loaded language! Plus the manipulation of angles for visual persuasion.

Non-Mormon here. I remember when I was 22 years old and driving down to DC from Philadelphia. This was in 1981. I was driving around the I-495 beltway and I began seeing this large bright white edifice with gold spikes "rising" out of the trees as I got closer. I had no idea what it was and just kept looking at it as much as the traffic would let me. I later found out that it was the Mormon temple. Yes, they do indeed put these temples where they want them to be seen. It's not for "the Lord" but for public relations -- and $$$$.

I guess my question to these 2 people that are hosting this podcast is what difference does it make to you? If they're not breaking the laws, they're asked for a special use conditional permit to do this, put it to a vote, the city council and let them vote on it. And if they go along with it, what? How does that hurt you the height of a building or something? It is so obvious that you're gonna be invited here. As a podcast host's , both of you , your bigger tree is beyond belief
