Very much enjoying binge watching your videos today May, so inspiring and fun.... re fasting, most of the research into fasting was on men, finding now that actually for women/folks that have a menstrual cycle, fasting can be really unhealthy, causing cortisol spikes eeek. Obviously every body is different but I was shocked to hear that little to no research was initially done on women. Thanks again for your lovely videos!

Thanks for sharing, May - interesting to see. Inspired by you I bought some lentils the other day ...wondering what to do with them! Will have to Google. I spend about £3 a day all in (meat eater and alcohol drinker) Lidl & Aldi are cheaper because they are huge European supermarkets and benefit from better deals from suppliers wanting huge orders, in every area of their businesses (benefits of scale). A major cost for the other supermarkets is the ridiculous number of each product they stock. Tesco was notorious - 28 different tomato ketchups, for instance (and probs all crap 😂).

With you being moored up in nature, and have your mooring lines. the smells of your great cooking. how do you get on with creepy crawlys, rodents that can use mooring lines to transfer from the bank to your home and how do you protect against that love always sean

I watch other vlogs that make cheap meals, but they add on a percentage of the cost of the items they use from the store cupboard. That is the only way you can show a fairer cost. I have been a vegetarian for 47 years. The cost of eating healthy isn't cheap and the condiments. herbs and spices are what cost heaps. I pay nearly 9 pounds for a tiny jar of nutritional yeast. I just spent 25 pounds on a couple of bags of fruit and vegies for 2 people for a week. Your meals look very tasty, but the portions are tiny. Sorry I missed what you eat for breakfast? Fasting to save money is wrong. Nobody should have to not eat due to money! I am wondering if you check your iron levels on a regular basis?
@wellbeingonwater Жыл бұрын
Hey Alison, thanks for your comments. I'm one of those people that eats little and often. Breakfast stuff was shown in episode 1. There's definitely investments to be made with your health for sure. I don't fast to save money. I fast for health reasons and another benefit is that it saves money! Every-body is different and you should do what works for you 😊
@wellbeingonwater Жыл бұрын
Maybe you missed it - at the beginning I asked you to watch episode 1 where I show you around my pantry. I make it clear that healthy food requires investment and that my essentials are included in that first video. I think with eggs, potato and rice/noodles etc I used in this video, cant be much more than £5 extra, max! Can't cost up every egg and grain of rice, i'm a busy gal!😀

@NomadicNight Жыл бұрын
Also, how long do you fast for each time ?
@wellbeingonwater Жыл бұрын
14 - 16 hours once or twice a week
@NomadicNight Жыл бұрын
@@wellbeingonwater Ok, well although you're giving your digestive system a break by doing that, you're not fasting for long enough to get the best benefit from it. During the first 24 hours of fasting, your body uses the glucose stores in your body in place of food. Those areas are your liver, your muscles and your bloodstream. To get the most benefits from fasting, you need to fast for between 48 and 72 hours, drinking only water, ( not juice ), mixed with half a teaspoon of natural salt, such as Himalayan Pink salt, for every litre of water. Your water should be mineral water from glass bottles, such as Pellegrino, from Sainsbury's in the UK, not tap water, because tap water contains chlorine and fluoride. After 24 hours of fasting, your body starts recycling old damaged cells and proteins to use as body fuel, and only if you continue until at least 48 hours, will your body begin to use any fat reserves that you have as fuel. This process is known as Autophagy, which literally means 'self-eating'. When I first began fasting for personal health reasons last year, the second day was the hardest, because my blood sugar was at it's lowest level, but if you can makes it to at least the 48 hour mark, your hunger will reduce, and your blood sugar will normalise. Doing a 72 hour fast once a week will benefit you far more than any 14-16 hour fast, I assure you. I don't expect you or anyone else reading this to just take my word for it, so please try it for yourself the way I've described doing it, and you'll be amazed at the results. Any infections or inflammation that you have will also improve if you do a 72 hour fast, especially if it's the first time that you've tried it. I strongly suggest only doing a 48 hour fast to begin with, as it will be much easier. The most important thing to remember, is that when you break your fast, you must eat only a small meal to start with, such as soup and a piece of fruit, to avoid overloading your digestive system. Diabetics must not try this type of fast, nor anyone taking essential medication, because of potential health problems. Also, anyone with an eating disorder must not try any type of fasting either. I'm not a Doctor or a health expert. I'm just a middle-aged man on KZbin who lives on mostly Organic food, who cares about his present and future health.

Brussel sprouts? People actually eat those things? 🤔... I thought they where just something your parents put on your plate at the end of every week, to check whether you'd been replaced by an alien or something. "MIB? Yes it's our son, he's eaten the sprouts... Well, it's eaten the sprouts. We need a Men In Black team round to exterminate it right away!" ... "Our son? He died unfortunately... He died choking on a brussel sprout." 😞

'George and The Brussel Sprout Conspiracy'... Nine year old George accidently discovers the horrifying secret all adults are keeping from children. Brussel sprouts on a Sunday roast are actually a secret method of testing whether children have been replaced by an alien life form, that has been attempting to infiltrate humanity for millennia. All parents are informed of the horrifying truth by Governments during pregnancy, and given a secret phone number to ring in the event their child fails the 'Brussel sprout test'. But George soon discovers adults are now eating the dreaded vegetable, including parents, teachers and dinner ladies, and it's up to young George to save Earth from the intergalctic sprout eaters.
