love seeing the ideas being sparked for what would one day be a stellar product of yours. heard only good things and stoked to try out your weedless combo

Thanks so much for seeing that! Yes man. This experience played a role in the development of Battlestar 5” Rib Bait + XLS Weighted Swimbait Hook. Which is clearly the best in the game - most weedless, most snag-less, and best hooksets. I put years into the R&D and it really worked out. It’s very rewarding to me when someone sees my hard work. It’s all here on KZbin. My pleasure. Thanks for noticing! 👏👏👏👍🎣🙏

I have a suggestion that may help you, as it did me. I know it is a heavier piece of equipment, but a Boga Grip is always with me. I started using them Bass Fishing and now I keep it with in my kayak, my Whaler and surf fishing. Not much use on small perch, but Halibut they are a wizard, either releasing or bagging them. You get control and do not have to worry about the teeth.
@VINCEGOESFISHING Жыл бұрын
That’s a good idea. How about when the Hali has his mouth clamped shut? Do you ever have trouble with that?
@Salty80556 Жыл бұрын
I do not remember a halibut with a closed mouth...... They usually open and close, trying to get me finger or hand.....lol@@VINCEGOESFISHING
@VINCEGOESFISHING Жыл бұрын
@@Salty80556 Ya, i see them open and close a lot when landing. I was wondering if you ever have trouble gripping them quickly if they won't open their mouth. Sounds like that's not a problem. I ought to get some grips and give it a try. That would be a lot better to carry around when fishing off the rocks. Thanks man :)
@Salty80556 Жыл бұрын
Just for what it is worth; I really believe the Boga Grips are the best. They are not cheap, but they last, even used regularly in Salt Water. Also if you catch a large, hali or yellowtail or such, the jaws swivel so the fish in upsetting your kayak or wrenching your wrist and elbow. Good Luck@@VINCEGOESFISHING

Bass fisherman here, with a few tips that could help. You’re using a Beast hook, which means you need a rod with lots of backbone to bury that heavy hook. I don’t know if you mentioned your rod specs, but ideally you want a MH to heavy power rod. Second, your hook is way too big for your bait. EWG hooks were made for thick plastics. For a that yum plastic, try a regular offset round bend in 3/0. Don’t push the hook all the way through the bait. Stop just before it pokes through the top of the bait. The round bend actually has more of a “bite” on the hookset, whereas an EWG hookpoint is more in-line with your mainline. This way, you can still be weedless but have a higher hookup ratio. Keep up the good work! I came from Hook2Cook btw

Thanks for the tip! I've been meaning to try the "regular offset round bend". That just might be the trick!
@VINCEGOESFISHING3 жыл бұрын
Yes, I fish MH rods. I like a very fast action, lots of backbone for setting hooks, and a flexible tip to bend and help hold that fish on when it shakes its head. So far my favorite action is the Major Craft Crostage CRX982Surf but unfortunately the top pieces tend to snap under load. It happened to both me and my friend Gary. Can you recommend a rod that has similar power and action?

I'm gonna experiment with 30LB Flouro leader, just so I can pre-rig the Texas rigs at home, and have the convenience of using a tactical clip once on the water. I'm not sure it will work out tho.. The reason I like texas rig is because it out performs every other seedless system in dirty water. But if I add the tactical clip, that thing will likely collect weed if the water is dirty, so that might not make sense. I'm gonna experiment with it.

Glad I found you on the hook2cook video man. Texas rig idea is kickass can't wait to try. What size hook and bullet weight are you using?
@felipegarcia89343 жыл бұрын
nvm just got to the part where you answered my question haha
@VINCEGOESFISHING3 жыл бұрын
Hil Felipe! This monster was caught using a 4/0 weighted owner beast hook. The hook has 1/8oz of lead on it. On top of that, I added 3/8oz bullet weight, so that's a total of 1/2oz lead. This is good for most conditions. If the bottom has snaggy/rocky structure then I go down even lighter to a 1/4oz bullet weight on top so it totals 3/8oz of lead. That allows me to swim the bait slowly just over the bottom without getting snagged. Also keep the hook tip exposed if you can, that will increase your hooksets. I only bury the tip a little bit if the water is super dirty, or if I'm pulling it through kelp. And if you bury the tip, I recommend a rib bait like a ketech, cuz you can just bury the tip in one or two of the little ribs. It tends to stay in place well, and still get most of the hooksets. Good luck man, let me know how it goes! Texas rigging is quite addictive!

It’s pronounced “ven-ter”-uh” not “ven-chura-uh” due to the name’s Spanish origin. The “tur” is the same as the “tur” in “turn”
