Aaahhh, Ardglas! I wonder how many people are alive today that remember the lads on their bicycles peddalling through the streets shouting "Ar'glass, "Ar'glass," foping to sell all of their satock of Ardglass Herrings. We always had a few - and they were good! I recall a visit there one day in the 1960's, and I could barely see the harbour for the number of fishing boatss and the men and women working on nets and boxes of the latest catch, now sadly, mostly all gone. oddly enough, I've just completed a few tour guides for my Canadian relatives - the last one finished a few weeks ago: Holywood, Helen's Bay, on to Bangor, and on along the coast to Ardglass, then over the Strangford ferry and up to Kiliiyleagh, Downpatrick, Comber, Siantfiels and via Stormont to the Holywood Hills. Wish I could do that again....! Once again, a nice video and narrative. Well done!

@@nornirishrover yes I am, very much so. I’ve never been to Ireland but have wanted to for years. I couldn’t decide whether to choose northern or southern Ireland first, but watching yr videos, I’m amazed Northern Ireland is so beautiful. I can travel from cairnryan to larne in just over 2 hours, when is the warmest month to travel in yr opinion. It rains a lot in England, but we get hot summers, so I imagine Ireland is probably the same. They call it the Emerald Isle after all lol.

Usually warmest months are June, July & August but, being Northern Ireland be sure to bring a light rain coat, sunshine is not guaranteed @@lorrainebriggs8546 😃

@nornirishrover 51 minutes ago Thank you so much. Ardglass has so much history subtitles would have never sufficed. Thankfully on this occasion technical issues remained absent and this time managed a voice over ;-)

Really interesting video ! I viewed a house in Ardglass very close to the Harbour before buying my new home in Annalong. My friend and I ate chips in the car overlooking the Harbour. I saw the bathing tower and couldn't work out what it was 😅. I remember seeing one of the castles, not sure which one. I'm looking forward to going back and exploring the area once I've moved.

Truly a great wee hidden gem. If anyone fancies a stay over I can heartily recommend Margaret's cottage, great spot: www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotel_Review-g1841485-d8446620-Reviews-Margaret_s_Cottage_B_B-Ardglass_County_Down_Northern_Ireland.html

I love how little villages in Northern Ireland have such rich history to them. All we ever here is about the Irish and their story, but the Ulster Scots & English have created a wealth of history in Ulster, Ireland & Northern Ireland that gets completely ignored. It's so enjoyable to hear these stories. Love the vid, greetings from the Netherlands.

Thank you very much. Indeed the story of the French Norman's, Danish Vikings, Ulster Scots & English have undoubtedly left an indelible mark on the landscape here and has as much an equal setting in the story and history of this land as the Irish themselves.
