Another informative travelogue, SFBI. You pointed out a gumbo limbo tree...do you know why they call those the Tourist Tree? It's because the bark is always red and peeling.

Note about Refuge to Bownam's Beach Road. Bowman's beach road is near mile market 5. The Refuge exit is just after that so coming out of the refuge go left ( South/East ) on Sanibel/Captiva Road, about 1/8 mile, then Right onto Bowman's beach road.

Yes that is correct but if you just go to the visitor center you turn right to get to bowman’s beach road, the way we went that day.
