You are quite the super hubby. Goes foraging for the mushrooms, shopping for the meat, potatoes in the oven and then cooks while Mom is relaxing in the pool on your day off. You're a good man!

I can’t believe Edd blogged his mushroom spots. In my family going way back, the father passed the secret spots down to the son, so so special getting to eat the spring mushrooms. PS, Big thumbs up to Charles for trying.

@@BordeauxLife I learned to hunt for them as a child. We went to many different places in Sweden, on our summerholidays. I got really good at finding them. As a Child and teen and young adult I didn't like the taste. Came MUCH later ❤️❤️❤️

Sadly in the U.K, children were always taught not to pick anything mushroom-like as they could be toxic. It's a great shame that we missed out on something which could have been passed to our children.

You’re not being greedy Ed. You need to gather all the mushrooms you can when they are ready. Dry some of them in the dehydrator for winter use.😊❤️

I have a log garden that I grow shiitake mushrooms in. When it’s time to harvest I don’t have a choice on what to do with them. I have dehydrated them… blanched them to freeze… sauté them in a huge pan mixed with onion then egg noodles and freeze in individual serving size container to pull out and serve with steaks as well. Harvest when you can and eat all year long 😘

So enjoy peeking into your lovely family life as well as the reconstruction. The tool Ed was using to stir is now a big hit in the states They call it a spurdle and comes in different sizes. I love mine, pretty much use them whenever I'm cooking. Portobello would be my favorite mushroom and cooking with a steak or even instead of the steak makes a great meal...enjoy!

Charles has a delicate palate. Lol. The children are adorable. Edd thanks for the mushroom lesson. To be on the safe side I will buy at the grocers. The only mushrooms I know that are not safe are the fairy caps. The red ones with white dots! They are poisonous! The recipe looks delicious. 👌

Wonderful meal Edd, thank you for sharing, it looked delicious! Well done Charles trying the mushroom...we always said the same thing to our children, to at least try a little! That is so very nice that Charles got to spend time with his mommy, so special & important! So nice to see the family have a meal together! Greetings from the West Coast of the U.S... Though my state, Oregon, has its own mushroom-hunting traditions, right now we have (heartbreaking) forest fires to contend with. Lately it seems like the whole world is either flooding or on fire, on a regular basis. I am watching your videos, in part, to escape my anxiety about all of it! In all honesty, I wouldn’t be watching if I didn’t genuinely enjoy your beautiful family, in your Chateau Lagorce, with your ongoing renovations, in my favorite country, France. I am a new subscriber, so will be commenting, here and there... Oh, and congratulations on finding the perfect pair of finials for your staircase!

I found over the years that small children don't really like artichokes or mushrooms when they first try them. I also had a hard time getting my kids to eat broccoli and cauliflower when they were cooked. I could get them to eat them raw dipped in a ranch salad dressing. This also worked with mushrooms. After they can enjoy them in one form then you can get them to try them other ways and they actually appreciate it. I think Charles would have liked the mushrooms better on a pizza. The blog was very entertaining and educational though and I appreciate that. It still amazes me to see what a half an hour pouring rain can do.

Lovely video, something very different, and also really good to see children eating the same as their parents and trying new stuff. We had a rule in our household that the children had to try something ten times (over the course of their life, not at one sitting!) before they could definitely say they didn’t like it - we all know how tastes change - and it became a bit of a game and led to some interesting discoveries. At age 45 my hubby finally decided he liked hot fish, and mushy peas…. 🤣😊😊
