I drive that stretch of highway from sabetha to topeka and I always have to hold my breath. With so many accidents and deaths they are finally putting in stretches of passing lanes to help with the congestion as well as turning lanes. Patience is very much needed, I always try to keep my distance from a semi so he can see me and I can see him. Keep up the good work and give Opie a pat from me 😊

Hello Kurt and Opie! I like the camera view behind the wheel. Makes me think I'm driving the truck lol. When you were thumping the tires, it brought back a funny memory to me. My dad was a truck driver. My mom always told him she wanted a hand gun. He came home off the road and handed her a gift. She opened and asked what is she suppose to do with this. He said I'm not buying you a gun. You will shoot your foot off. Lol. That bat is for you to use. It was a tire thumper. I still have that bat. Lol.

I just came off of a road trip and boy has things changed out there. You now need patience where ever you go. So much construction going on. I can’t believe how some people thinks it’s a wicks wacky race. Instead of finding a comfortable speed to set your limiter at the put there nose to the windshield and yell get out of my way. Of course the ones going the fastest are usually the one with the least experience. I am glad I am home, not sure by how you guys do it anymore. Nice relaxing video. It funny when you are empty and can smoke most your stuck behind an a hole. Well I hope you get the quiet rest you need, stay safe and have a great day..

35 to 40 years ago there were many under powered trucks. One of my first was a KW with a 250 hp cummons 13 speed. It could not pull 40k in road gear. 318 8v Detroit's we're common. Went to sleep and could still hear the motor whistle. We could turn up fuel pressure on manual fuel pumps for more hp. 425 cats were the big dog. 400 cummons were close to pulling power. Under powered trucks were more dangerous because drivers did not want to slow down when they should have been. It would take forever to regain lost speed. When 8v 92 Detroit's came around almost no one could keep up with them pulling and very quick from the start with quick shifting. The big motors of 500 plus took a re-learning process. No need for hammer down all the time.

In the late 70's I drove rock trucks with tandem pup trailers. The biggest engine this company had were 318 DDs. My truck had a monsterous 238 DD. We ran 75 from Plattsmouth south a lot and I was the leader of the parade many times and likely made a lot of people a bit upset. But coming back north empty I could fly like the wind!

Hello Kurt and Opie. I've had some downtime and been riding with you guys for a few days checking out your videos. Love your videos and I'm not even a truck driver LOL. Perhaps some of the pro drivers can help me understand something. I too drive a lot for my job, I-77 from West Virginia to Charlotte NC and I-85 to GA state line. I encounter a lot of trucks on those roads, I mean a lot. I'm the guy that gives them plenty of room and will assist the driver with lane changing and stay out of their way and let them run. I've noticed a trend though that more and more big trucks will block both lanes and ride there. There used to be a code for pro drivers, 18 wheels or 4, that seems to be out the door these days. What is driving this trend? y'all stay safe out there and I thank you all for keeping this country supplied. 🙏
@truckingwithschmidt71202 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry that happens to you, some drivers are just in to much of a hurry , maybe because they have to or maybe because they want to, most times that blockage your talking about I'd one truck going 65 and the other going 65.5 mph and neither one will give. Luckily I don't run a speed limitor so I just gas on it and get around or I will drop down to 64 for awhile and let them go. If that's what your referring to. If your talking about construction sites,,,,,,,,,that's a whole norther storey.

Oh dear. That is a rough day for those people. Highway 75 can be dangerous. It is a narrow 2 lane. The turn outs from the side roads can be dangerous. When we travel 74 from Topeka to Omaha we pay close attention to what's going on around us and heads on a swivel! We also have a road, K-4 highway from Topeka to Atchison... Lots of tragic wrecks there as well.

It’s very inconsiderate to hang back when other drivers have deadlines, especially now with e logs. I understand about lagging on hills though. Here in the east we have some big hills, but many roads were designed for horses and buggies. Sometimes there isn’t anywhere to get around a slow vehicle. I Googled the accident. Unfortunately three people passed away.

Now Kurt, you are out in the country, and in a very small town where they roll up the sidewalks at 10 pm, he's got to learn sometimes, and Paige would've been with him, and you could've let him drive back since you were there with them, admit it now, am I right, but now since I got to see the kids, I was thinking earlier in the video, "I wonder how his fan/subscribers count is doing?", and this isn't taking nothing away from the show, and basically that's what it is, like a primetime soap opera, kinda like Dallas was, or maybe not!...🤣😂 But I was thinking, and you could probably have seen the smoke 🤪, but I think one of the main reasons that folks watch your videos so much isn't because of you being a truck driver who owns his own truck, and a damn nice old truck too, and I gotta give you credit for keeping it together, but I think the main reason that folks watch your videos so much is to see Opie, and Troy, and Paige, because face it, you got some really cute kids, and I mean that from the bottom of my heart, and they're funny too, and how many other truck drivers have a talking German Shepherd?...🤪😆😅😂🤣💖🥰👍

I like your videos because you’re calm and relaxed and you actually show the road in daytime and nighttime driving. Your dog is a buddy. I wonder what it is that you ress under the load towards the back of the trailer. It sounds like something is disengaging, May be the trailer disengages from the tractor, but a king pin usually does that off the tractor. So, please tell me about that. In Arizona, if there is a crash, the road is closed until the investigation is complete, which might take hours. I know of no other state that closes a road completely when there is a crash, and when I asked Arizona law enforcement why this policy is done, they repeat the policy without further explanation. When I lived in Illinois, a crash analysis was completed within a short time and the road was opened. What has been the experience of folks on this website about the policy in the various states?
