Unsilenced: Voices of Young Tibetans - S2 Ep1- Conversation with Sonam Tsering
The conversation with Tibetan activist and Tibetan Youth Congress General Secretary Sonam Tsering sees him share to us his journey from Tibet. how he came to exile? how he crossed the Himalayas?. Came to Nepal and then India where he met His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama and continued his journey in exile to now become the General Secretary of the largest Tibetan NGO in exile, The Tibetan Youth Congress. His journey continues and he holds the flame of truth and freedom for Tibet close to his always, remembering his sisters and brothers in Tibet.
Unsilenced: Voices of Young Tibetans is an audio and video podcast presented by the Foundation for Non-Violent Alternatives (FNVA) and hosted by our Research Associate Tenzing Dhamdul. Unlike Tibetans who were able to escape the clutches of Chinese communist authoritarian rule, those who are still under their occupation do not have the voice to express themselves, and ironically those who are empowered, concerned and courageous to express themselves in Tibet are met with the harsh might of CCP's retribution, with many simply disappearing and rendered silent. This podcast is a tribute to all those brave Tibetans.
Our conversations with young Tibetans will offer an interesting view of their lives in exile, their future aspiration for Tibet and give them a platform through which they can freely express themselves and in many ways decide their own future.

Guarding ten and thousands of tents
Listening the hateful songs of innocence
Snoring here and snoring there
Killing the youthfulness of the silent night

When it rains in Dharamshala. I always think about Tibet . I can see our family’s tibetan house. there are always a lot of happy laughs in it . behind the house is a snow mountain . before the house is a clear river. I left my home and came to India since many years ago . when I climbed over that snow mountain I was young , but can I climb the same snow mountain back to Tibet at now ? can I find the same way leading me to my home ? can I still recognize my home after so many years of separation? . When it rains in Dharamshala, I always heard a sound mixed in the raindrops . it seems so remote but still clear enough to listen . suddenly I understand it, it’s the sound from Tibet calling me go home . ...... I stand up with a walking stick in my hand, open the door and walk into the rain. although I can’t see anything clearly through thick rain , as long as I follow that sound I definitely can go home . I keep walking . I fell in the mud but try to stand up , keep walking . I walk more and more slowly, can't walk anymore, only my soul keep moving forward with that sound . the rain stops . that sound disappears. a rainbow appears in the sky . one side of the rainbow is Dharamshala, the other side of the rainbow is Tibet I stand muddy under the rainbow with the walking stick, don’t know where to go .

it's spring, the grass in Tibet turns green. old ama la stands before the tibetan house. she greets to a traveler, sir , are you going to India? my son Tsering went to India many years ago, could kind-hearted stranger do me a favor by taking this Tibetan fox fur hat to Tsering? ama la, Tsering was dead in india. before he died, he kneeled down and prayed three times towards Tibet, he prayed for ama la’s long healthy life. summer is coming, the flowers in Tibet bloom . old ama la stands at the foot of the snow maintain, she speaks to a traveler, sir , are you going to India? my son Tsering went to India many years ago, could kind-hearted stranger do me a favor by taking this Tibetan robe Chuba to Tsering? ama la, Tsering was dead in india. before he died, he kneeled down and prayed three times towards Tibet. he prayed for ama la’s long healthy life. autumn has come, Tibet's highland barley is ripe. old ama la stands on the river bank. she talks with a traveler, sir , are you going to India? my son Tsering went to India many years ago, could kind-hearted stranger do me a favor by taking this bag of fresh tsampa to Tsering? ama la, Tsering was dead in india. before he died, he kneeled down and prayed three times towards Tibet. he prayed for ama la’s long healthy life. now Tibet is in winter. at night, snowflakes fall quietly on the earth. a tibetan butter lamp on the table lit up the dark room. next to the tibetan butter lamp, old ama la died peacefully, with a pair of unfinished tibetan boots in her hands... Tsering and old ama la met in heaven. Tsering puts on the new tibetan fox fur hat. Tsering wears the new tibetan robe chuba. Tsering puts on the new tibetan boots. Tsering eats the fresh tsampa. Tsering and ama la smile at each other. there are no tears in heaven.

you are looking at Tibet through a telescope from india’s side, wearing a tibetan robe chuba . yes ,that is Tibet . your hometown is there . you grew up there . when you left your hometown, your brother stood on the hill of your hometown saw your leaving. you turn around and walk away from that telescope. but don’t walk too far , if you walk too far , how can you see your brother’s waving hands on the hill of your hometown . you are looking at Tibet through a telescope from india’s side, wearing a tibetan robe chuba . yes ,that is Tibet . your parents are there . when you left , your parents threw tibetan lungtas to wind for the distant you. you turn around and walk away from that telescope. but don’t walk too far , if you walk too far, how can you receive the pray that your parents had thrown in the wind for you. you are looking at Tibet through a telescope from india’s side, wearing a tibetan robe chuba . yes ,that is Tibet . your lover is there . she stands before the tibetan house , wearing a galsang flower on her head. she is waiting for your returning . you turn around and walk away from that telescope. but don’t walk too far , if you walk too far , your lover will be broken heart . you are looking at Tibet through a telescope from india’s side, wearing a tibetan robe chuba . yes ,that is Tibet . at there your ancestors rest in peace . at the countless nights when you were crying alone , they were beside you quietly. Tibet is an eternal paradise for tibetans in the world, because your ancestors are there . you turn around and walk away from that telescope. but don’t walk too far , if you walk too far , how can you hear your ancestors’ calling you come back to Tibet .

@@redlark thank you !💐actually I have seen Mr Sonam Tsering la visiting Tawang ,he and another tibetan chuba man were looking at Tibet through a telescope from India's side ......I felt so hurt ,I could understand their feeling and really wanted they can visit Tibet in the future ,it should not be long ......

@@malorybertie8046 indeed that is the predicament of us Tibetans, even those born in exile yearn to visit their homeland which has been stolen n illegally occupied. Hope remains and we continue to fight for it🙏 Bhod Gyalo.
