Charting the Course: India's Strategic Role in Tibet's Future is a collaborated event between The Foundation for Non-Violent Alternatives (FNVA) and the Future of Tibet, which is supported by Giuseppe Kaiser Stiftung.
The Event was held at the India International Centre, New Delhi on 3rd November, 2023.
Panel Discussion on Tibet in Geopolitical Vision: The Centrality of Tibet on Indo-China Relations moderated by Tenzin Younten la (Associate Fellow at CCSST, Pinaca Technologies) with the panellist Rebon Banerjee Dhar (founding trustee of FNVA) and Lobsang Gyatso Sither la (Member of the 17th Tibetan Parliament in Exile).
The discussion focused around the centrality of Tibet when it comes to the India China relations and in light of the recent high level US delegation visiting the Dalai Lama and the Tibetan Government in Exile in Dharamshala, India. It brings out pertinent points that would better allow India to navigate and chart its course in securing its future in the region especially in the Himalayas.

The autonomy may seem plausible preposition but this will not solve the border dispute! ONLY AN INDEPENDENT TIBET WILL SOLVE ALL THE PROBLEMS WITH THE BORDER AND THE EXISTENTIAL THREAT TO THE TIBETAN PEOPLE! Yes, it is not easy and may take a long time but we have to remember, the CCP is not a monolithic eternal entity. In fact it is a brittle and rather unstable regime which can collapse surprisingly easily like the former USSR. It lives in fear of its people and every year there are more and more disgruntled people in China especially after its economy has stopped growing after the prolonged lockdown by Xi Jinping!

Free tibet is only possible with direct military actiion by INDIAN ARMED FORCES... Dalai lama never called for independence of tibet in public...nothing will change on ground till dalai lama don't change his stance on tibet.....tibetans wants a free independent tibet...but dalai lama wants autonomous tibet under chinese control..this is totally opposite of each other...NO tibetan have the guts to ask dalai lama straight whether he wants independence of tibet from china or not.

My Bharat brother please Read why middle way policy started in the first place.. every single countries were scared of China or the greed that no countries recognize Tibet as an independent country or no countries helped Tibet independent movement. it will be a win win for India because after border issues will be resolved forever with a middle way or fully independent. so I know you want Tibet to be fully out of chinese control but Indian better walk that talk 🤝

@@Zoogy_zoo You are wrong to say the border will be settled because autonomy means only internal sovereignty but the foreign affairs will be in the hands of communist China! The Chinese will have the power in dealing with issues of border and not the Tibetans. Therefore ONLY AN INDEPENDENT TIBET WILL BRING BACK THE CORDIAL RELATIONSHIP THAT EXISTED BETWEEN TIBET AND INDIA PRIOR TO THE ILLEGAL OCCUPATION OF TIBET BY COMMY CHINA!

@@chorinz7044 Don’t you see or haven’t you heard of how the CCP smashed the supposed autonomy (one country two systems) that was promised to Hong Kong in the 1988 Sino-British Joint Declaration? How would you explain that a very important international economic centre that is Hong Kong was robbed of its promised autonomy yet you hope that the CCP will respect autonomy in occupied Tibet? Any agreement that is made with the CCP is not worth the paper it is written. What happened to the so called 17 point treaty of May 23 1951? Tibet was already promised so called autonomy in the agreement which promised to retain the Dalai Lama power and religious institutions will be respected!!! It was reneged before the ink was dry and the rest is history!
