Watched a couple out of order. New Jersey, my wife and I are here, the weather was quite nice. 70 and sunny at the boat show on Saturday. Her birthday was that Sunday so we went out on the sunset curise on board the 74 foot schooner Woodwind. Got a pic and video of her at the helm. Spent the night at a hotel up at Baltimore's inner harbor. Great weekend.

My understanding of place names in Montenegro is that generally they get the accent on the first syllable. KOT-or, PER-ast etc. Lovely video. I have just bought an apartment there and am getting ready to move.

Hello Judy I just wanted to reach out briefly to extend a thank you, we met at the Smokehouse Tavern in Annapolis where you and my friend Matt and I enjoyed a most wonderful conversation. Steve was busy with other subscribers and Patrons. You were so lovely and gracious, it truly was a pleasure meeting you. I wish you and Steve all the best in your travels as I will continue following you. Be well my friend.

Hi Gary, sorry I missed you, just got back from the Blue room. If you’re still here on Thursday we all get together there for a curry. I don’t think I’ve met Ed & Patricia, are they here for the winter?

@@svfairisle Hi Steve . I think they are in their motorhome . Like me they like to motorhome in the winter and sail in the summer . Yes I'm up for a curry on Thursday night will be nice to say hi to you and Judy . My boat at present is in Cartagena Spain , if I remember rightly you had fair isle there before being stuck in lock down in Mar menor .

Just me I'm afraid, Judy's in the UK at the moment. We all tend to go to the Blue room at 6'30ish for a 7.30 curry. I't usually on a Wednesday, but it's been transferred to Thur this week.

I don't understand sail measuring. Why don't the sails have their spec. sheet from the sail maker, so that measurements can be taken off the sheet, anytime in the future?
@svfairisle2 жыл бұрын
Production boats will have specs published for the standard sails, but Precision will look closely at how you use the boat and could offer cuts that are better for how you want to sail the boat, it’s really useful talking to their sail designers and if they have all the measurements they can really help & give you options. It will all be in the tech video.

Thanks guys and I hope you enjoy the boat show (I'm rather envious actually); . Annapolis is a really lovely town, and there's plenty to do locally and further afield. I'm intrigued by the PowerRay; we're just back from two weeks in the Ionian, and one thing we thought would be an exciting development would be an underwater drone. Too late, someone's already thought of it and - more significantly - realised it. Apart from generally playing around, I think it might be an excellent tool for "diving" the anchor when the water depth/ambient light (and/or temperature) make doing this physically tricky. We spent a few nights just off Abelaki on Meganisis, and so we've covered some of the same ground as you guys. BTW, I saw a Moody Desk Saloon (45, I think) and it got me thinking that this looks like a really interesting concept for people that are more interested in the destination (the one-level living area) rather than the journey (the pure sailing aspects); any thoughts..?
@returner3236172 жыл бұрын
And finally, having to long-line using traditional wraps has convinced me of the value of your Ultraline tape..! BTW, have you used the separate webbing loop to secure to a rock/tree..? In terms of snubber, this time I used the Mantus Snubber Pendant (shackled to a bridle of two mooring wraps) and found that a nice setup.
@svfairisle2 жыл бұрын
Yes I was interested to see how they do the deck saloon models, there might be a Beneteau version here, I will see.

expect that sub-drone will be preferable than diving on the anchor in those frigid waters. how is Montenegro for cost over-winter - a good deal or the same as most places in the area?
@svfairisle2 жыл бұрын
The price of most things is comparable with other places we’ve wintered, ie Spain, Italy, Turkey, but the facilities are second to none! It’s MUCH cheaper than Croatia and is non Schengen so great for us Brits.

Interesting video, but please work on your pronunciation of Kotor and Perast. The emphasis on all place names in Montenegro, is always on the first syllable. (For Kotor, the rhythm is similar to "udder") Next time you come to Montenegro let us know and you can drink some tea with us at our house, which arguably has the best view of Kotor old town and the inner bay. (BTW - we know the "real" reason you entered the Fortress via the Ladder of Cattaro (which refers to the path and not the wooden ladder at the window) but we won't tell anyone! However, before climbing in the window, you unfortunately missed one of the best snack places in the area, where they serve their own delicious goat cheese and rakia. Definitely worth going back for.
