[EP8] How to Make a Boat Windscreen From Persepex - Haines Signature 530F Restoration

In this episode I construct a 5 panel windscreen made out of perspex and aluminium edging for less than $400. Before completing this episode I purposely punished it through some large swell and chop to make sure it was up to the job, so you might notice the boat is far more complete than it was last episode.
This series features the total restoration of a very cheap Haines Signature 530F in need of a lot of work. It aims to educate people on how to perform good quality, but very budget orientated repairs and modifications to all things mechanical especially boat building.

Make sure you use that anto corrosion gel on the rivets

@@cheapthrillsgarage Or just use aluminium rivets. You only use gel to isolate the 2 materials, rubber or plastic works as well. No contact of 2 different metals, no galvanic corrosion.

nice job looks awesome,mine ones from persepex went bit scratched after a year possibly couse it gets carried on the trailer a lot or some other reason ,how is yours after some time in use?

I made mine up out of cardboard first to make sure I liked the look of it Etc. Then I just used the cardboard pieces for patterns. If I hadn't have done it that way, I would have messed up the Perspex for sure 😂 My boat is quite different to yours but I used stainless piano hinges to create the frame and brackets.

You can buy tinted perspex from most dealers

Yep, I would have used tinted plastic.

You could of made all the panels and polished all the edges with a blow torch the super glued the panels together the just had a top rail.

Stainless rivets into alloy? No no! Use alloy, or better still, nothing.. but technically speaking the silicone should be rated alloy, but it can actually corrode with aluminium.. other than that?
