You guys really do do a great job of helping people properly repair their roof.

That’s a lot of extra work. You could have used cover tape and left it at that, you could have stopped with the seam taped rubber if you rounded the corners, used contact adhesive on the center and a bead of caulk around the perimeter. I’m not sure what was accomplished here.

EASIER to apply is the EPDM Quick Roof flashing Self Adhesive Stretch flex with the primer. Its on a roll, inexpensive, Extreme temps don't effect it. No need to stretch it If applied flat wont bubble. It out lasts the roof.

Sad thing is most roofing companies would argue the small hole is not repairable and try to talk you into replacing the entire roof.

One piece of sa flashing job done u cant use formflash directly on to this or it will fail at the point were the rubber is cut

Need to patch a longer 18” by 4” section on an RV. Not sure a circular patch will suffice given space constraints. Any public advice on better product?

Follow the same process, just cut a larger patch.

I would think it would leak where the splice tape overlaps. Why not use bonding adhesive.
@nickydavies43 жыл бұрын
Because u cant use bonding adhesive to stick rubber to rubber it's only for membrane to substrate it wont leak were it over laps any ways but the form flash they put on those areas insures this the easiest way to do this and the neater way is to use sa flashing

If king kong would piss on this patch it will never leak. You should have used this patch on the Katrina levees.

Why are there so many epdm repairs on this channel? We all know why don't we.?

It is obvious that this video is to get you to buy as many products as possible. You use a little tiny bit out of the caulking gun out of the cans out of the repair tape and it will cost you $300 to fix a little patch

What an absolute joke!! That process is 10 times longer and not as good as just using 1 single circular uncurred Patch with primer straight onto the existing roof! With this method there is still a portion of the EPDM square rubber not bonded down in the centre, there’s literally nothing holding it. Then you crest possible weak points by lapping the tapes, which then have to be sealed with 4 additional patches! That is an absolute farce, just use 1 6” circular patch for a hole or tear.

The correct way is to use sa flashing if u put formflash on an area that has a hole and no reinforcement under it it will fail over the space of around ten years the expansion differance causes it to crack seen it a million times form flash is for detail not to be use directly over cut rubber sa flashing is what's needed for this for strength

It's insanity. It is creating a high spot that will build up water behind it.... and a patch on top of a patch on top of a patch. Frankly it seems like an excuse to sell you more parts to the "system". You're telling me you can't develop an adhesive that will bond rubber, permanently?

Music is way too annoying to make it past the 1:00 mark

Very helpful, but why on earth do you think it necessary to introduce that God awful raucous CG music track - what do you think it actually contributes to the video? This is what happens when you allow some IT nerd any influence upon the finished product - it is annoying, so much so, I went onto another video.
