You can actually fully upgrade the seamoth depth modules with the base one in the aurora seamoth bay. It was a very pleasant surprise when I found it!

@@soup3339 There is a level 1 depth module next to the terminal in the aurora seamoth bay, you have to take a right instead of going forward to the reactor or left to the prawn bay. i then got a cyclops and upgraded the depth module fully by building and using a mod station.

In my first playthrough, I completely abandoned my base when I unlocked the cyclops. I used the materials from my base to prepare my cyclops. All the appliances, all the storage, grow beds, I moved it in and the cyclops and it became my base. The only thing left was a moon pool housing my old sea moth.

"can you beat subnautica without using an air tank" basically, your air tank slot has to remain empty the entire run. I would suggest using liberal amounts of the air tubes for early game, since they can reach pretty far (for those that don't know, once the tube connects to the last tube but before you place it you can swim away and the tube will expand)
@HSukePup
@HSukePup 3 жыл бұрын
You can totally beat the game with no bases, no vehicles, AND no habitat builder. It's similar to the same strategy that's used in glitchless speed runs. Now if you want to add no air tanks to that build, there is a way to do that pretty easily too, but it's very tedious and requires a ton of bladderfish.

I mean, the Sea Dragon basically does rule the sea, being above the apex predator. Only knowing the name, “Sea Emperor Leviathan,” I can see where the mistake can be made. And I think, “Mother Leviathan” is a better name. (Sidenote: You can also call it father or parent leviathan because subnautica creatures only have 1 sex. I just call it a mother.)

I had an Incredible thought: so we know it is required to get a Cyclops for the sheild generator, so with that in mind we know it is impossible to beat the game without a scanner, but I was thinking you could see how many scans are REQUIRED to beat the game, and maybe over time you could make more vids if you find anything that can lower the required number. I was already thinking in some speedruns they glitch through the floor to get passed force fields in alien bases, so that might possibly skip needed to scan the purple tablet to open force fields. After seeing your no vehicle run you did it easily until the end, so you don't need to scan the seamoth and if I'm remembering you don't need a scanner to get the habitat tool. Now getting the Neptune blue prints might be har d since I'm pretty sure you need a laser cutter, but maybe there is a glitch you could do, but I'm not sure, I could be over thinking this, but it's an interesting idea.
@Mast3rKK

for a glitchless run, theres the cyclops (9) the- holy shit thats the only required scan in the game, right? (unless u count databoxes as scans, then it would be 11 scans total)

In my first run, I stumbled into the Jellyshroom Caves really early on, before I understood what I was doing. I explored the main base entirely and only missed the stuff on the platforms deeper into the cave, without even a rebreather and with jus one basic o2 tank, by building a couple dozen pipes and a floating air pump. Something that really surprised me is how reliant a lot of people are on bases, I went throughout the game twice without feeling the need to make a farm for food or use the water filtration system or even a base in dangerous areas for safety, I only ever made a base with the bare essentials (moonpool, some storage, modification station and a scanner room). That was the extent of my base building lol.

Playing without beacons is so easy mainly cuz i just turn on the old markers that try to move the story forward like crashed pod next to cave is the jelly shroom cave or the 500 meter depth lifepod that takes you straight into the river of life but yeah with the aurora as a landmark its actually super easy to navigate your at the front of okay that means there either the mountains or the top of the dunes area and the floating islands with all them boney bois behind it well im near the rondevous point which is about the floating ball place next to sea treaders path ect. Then in the actaul cave systems theres like 3 directions every turn and its pretty easy to use the tree of life or one of the skeletons or the thermal plant as the refrence point since all the huge areas have a big distinguishable item smack dab in the middle of it then the lava area is litterally two giant rooms with the testing room in it i just recalled like 60 percent of the map but i know where the rest are lmao

If you know where the zero point of the map is, its near the coral tube with the single end sticking out of the water. If you go off from there South/South-East you will find a red grass area and it has a jellyshroom cave entrance that is directly over the Degrasi Base. The base is at around 260 meters down. So you can park your Seamoth at 200, but be warned about the crabsnake there. It will let you scan the outside stuff fairly easily with a ready made air pocket nearby. But going inside to get the databoxes and datapads is risky. I recommend a rebreather and bladderfish.

My storage was all waterproof lockers, for food I just hunted for fish using grav traps, did all my crafting inside the Lifepod - and to be fair, now that I think about it, I really did not feel like I was missing out on anything and thought this is how most people would play the game.

You can beat it but its one hell of a challenge since its harder to get kyanite and nickel, prawn suit is basically useless unupgraded, Seamoth can only have depth modules which would be a pain when dealing with reapers, and without a base you can not really charge power cells (Yes I know you can put power cell chargers in the cyclops but it takes the power you are using in your cyclops on the charging power cells), and you have to use your cyclops to go to primary containment unit which is the biggest pain ever.
@terakhanthis

Its kind of funny hearing you talk about using the seamoth in Jellyshroom. I typically rush the seaglide and upgraded tank, then use the entrance directly above the base to zip in and out to get it all before the radiation.
@moth5799

You should try starting in the inactive lava zone by building a small base with a fabricator, and radio, it's really difficult.
@EphiTV

Sounds interesting, the main problem is that all the super deep areas have almost no titanium besides the nodes you need the prawn suit to mine. I've done some bases down there and it always sucks trying to build them out because you have to keep ferrying titanium from the surface.
@moth5799
@moth5799 4 жыл бұрын
@@EphiTV There is titanium in the ILZ, just not much of it. It spawns just on it's own in the lava pit and on some of the spires, same for silver and gold. Also you'll need to cheat in a rebreather to do it, swimming without a seaglide to the surface is impossible to do without one.

3:43 I can say from experience that you absolutely can get the seamoth very close to the base, I've done it multiple times, you do have to dip below 200m a little bit but as long as you have a repair tool there are enough pockets above 200m to park the seamoth reasonably close to the base.

FYI, "plant island" is floating island, since ita floating and held up my giant "floater" organisms. Also the energy leaches are the one thing in the game it seems designed for you to kill rather than just scare off. They don't attack-you- move slow when running away, and die in maybe 5-6 quick hits, low hp compared to other things. Also "that one hidden facility" there's actually 3 of those, all with ion cubes in them.

If you go into the lava zone pit, (the giant pit that has a little hole in the side) you can park your cyclops there for an extremely long time (forever) and there will be no lava larva to leech off of your cyclops. Trust me, the lava zone pit is the best base spot that deep down. Hot enough for you to need a reinforced suit, but not too hot that you can't chill, close access to an infinite source of ion cubes, and so many other perks. (No leeches)

As someone who plays Subnautica without beacons because I hate wasting valuable inventory space for materials, yes, you do basically get lost over and over until you learn the map. I used to make a habit of making random visits to oddly specific locations to sort of train my brain to memorize the paths to important places, objects, and enemies and the things I would likely encounter while making those trips.

In my first ever play through I never built a base as I got the Cyclops quite early and it never occurred to me that I might need one. I finished the game with just the Seamoth and Cyclops. I also never found a second beacon fragment so had to do it without beacons. I made a save just before launching the rocket and then reloaded from that point and went on a completion spree. I built a Prawn and harvested every large mineral node in the game and spent the next 500hours of game time building a mahoosive set of bases all over the map. I had more fun after completing the game than before the story ended. I even had a base from the top of the largest Mushroom tree all the way down to the Lost River via the Blood Kelp entrance.
