"can you beat subnautica without using an air tank" basically, your air tank slot has to remain empty the entire run. I would suggest using liberal amounts of the air tubes for early game, since they can reach pretty far (for those that don't know, once the tube connects to the last tube but before you place it you can swim away and the tube will expand)
@HSukePup3 жыл бұрын
You can totally beat the game with no bases, no vehicles, AND no habitat builder. It's similar to the same strategy that's used in glitchless speed runs. I had an Incredible thought: so we know it is required to get a Cyclops for the sheild generator, so with that in mind we know it is impossible to beat the game without a scanner, but I was thinking you could see how many scans are REQUIRED to beat the game, and maybe over time you could make more vids if you find anything that can lower the required number. I was already thinking in some speedruns they glitch through the floor to get passed force fields in alien bases, so that might possibly skip needed to scan the purple tablet to open force fields. After seeing your no vehicle run you did it easily until the end, so you don't need to scan the seamoth and if I'm remembering you don't need a scanner to get the habitat tool. Now getting the Neptune blue prints might be har d since I'm pretty sure you need a laser cutter, but maybe there is a glitch you could do, but I'm not sure, I could be over thinking this, but it's an interesting idea.

Playing without beacons is so easy mainly cuz i just turn on the old markers that try to move the story forward like crashed pod next to cave is the jelly shroom cave or the 500 meter depth lifepod that takes you straight into the river of life but yeah with the aurora as a landmark its actually super easy to navigate your at the front of okay that means there either the mountains or the top of the dunes area and the floating islands with all them boney bois behind it well im near the rondevous point which is about the floating ball place next to sea treaders path ect. Then in the actaul cave systems theres like 3 directions every turn and its pretty easy to use the tree of life or one of the skeletons or the thermal plant as the refrence point since all the huge areas have a big distinguishable item smack dab in the middle of it then the lava area is litterally two giant rooms with the testing room in it i just recalled like 60 percent of the map but i know where the rest are lmao

If you know where the zero point of the map is, its near the coral tube with the single end sticking out of the water. If you go off from there South/South-East you will find a red grass area and it has a jellyshroom cave entrance that is directly over the Degrasi Base. The base is at around 260 meters down. So you can park your Seamoth at 200, but be warned about the crabsnake there. It will let you scan the outside stuff fairly easily with a ready made air pocket nearby. But going inside to get the databoxes and datapads is risky. I recommend a rebreather and bladderfish.

You can beat it but its one hell of a challenge since its harder to get kyanite and nickel, prawn suit is basically useless unupgraded, Seamoth can only have depth modules which would be a pain when dealing with reapers, and without a base you can not really charge power cells (Yes I know you can put power cell chargers in the cyclops but it takes the power you are using in your cyclops on the charging power cells), and you have to use your cyclops to go to primary containment unit which is the biggest pain ever.

3:43 I can say from experience that you absolutely can get the seamoth very close to the base, I've done it multiple times, you do have to dip below 200m a little bit but as long as you have a repair tool there are enough pockets above 200m to park the seamoth reasonably close to the base.
@anthonycincotta91053 жыл бұрын
Alternatively, you could just use the entrance directly above the degassi base and avoid all that nonsense.

FYI, "plant island" is floating island, since ita floating and held up my giant "floater" organisms. Also the energy leaches are the one thing in the game it seems designed for you to kill rather than just scare off. They don't attack-you- move slow when running away, and die in maybe 5-6 quick hits, low hp compared to other things. Also "that one hidden facility" there's actually 3 of those, all with ion cubes in them.

Where did you go to get your bridge and hull fragments for the Cyclops? (I usually get them from the Mushroom forest but I was wondering if you go to a different play to get them)
@EphiTV4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, Mushroom Forest is usually the best spot. Sea Treader's Path also has both types but it's pretty far out of the way from anything important so I usually don't go there.

I get bridge and hull fragments from the mushroom forest and engine parts from the back of the aurora

Around the aurora there are some fragments but if you don't want to get close to that shit, the mushroom forest near the aurora is your best choice

The JellyShroom Cave has the entrance right above the Degasi base, so you can park the Seamoth at ~199m and swim back and forth to the base just fine.

I have a Challenge for you. You can only use the prawn suit
@EphiTV4 жыл бұрын
Prawn suit with boosters is my fave vehicle. It'd just be very slow getting around everywhere. You'd also need to collect all the parts first which means going to the Aurora ASAP. Would be interesting but rather slow run.
@combinecommando0013 жыл бұрын
Technically speaking, the cyclops is a mobile base, but extremely limited compared to an actual base. So for all intents and purposes, you fulfilled the requisite of the challenge, albeit it could be argued.

At 8:18 what happened was that you saved in your sea moth and loaded that save. Whenever you do that it activates that glitch.

Fun fact, theres an enterance to the jelly shroom cave directly above the base down there. Didn't have to sacrifice your seamoth.

So if he had found those sparse reef ion cubes, he technically could have completed the no vehicles challenge.
@thepizzacarpizza10563 жыл бұрын
If you go into the lava zone pit, (the giant pit that has a little hole in the side) you can park your cyclops there for an extremely long time (forever) and there will be no lava larva to leech off of your cyclops. Trust me, the lava zone pit is the best base spot that deep down. Hot enough for you to need a reinforced suit, but not too hot that you can't chill, close access to an infinite source of ion cubes, and so many other perks. (No leeches)

As someone who plays Subnautica without beacons because I hate wasting valuable inventory space for materials, yes, you do basically get lost over and over until you learn the map. I used to make a habit of making random visits to oddly specific locations to sort of train my brain to memorize the paths to important places, objects, and enemies and the things I would likely encounter while making those trips.

In my first ever play through I never built a base as I got the Cyclops quite early and it never occurred to me that I might need one. I finished the game with just the Seamoth and Cyclops. I also never found a second beacon fragment so had to do it without beacons. I made a save just before launching the rocket and then reloaded from that point and went on a completion spree. I built a Prawn and harvested every large mineral node in the game and spent the next 500hours of game time building a mahoosive set of bases all over the map. I had more fun after completing the game than before the story ended. I even had a base from the top of the largest Mushroom tree all the way down to the Lost River via the Blood Kelp entrance.
