Yeah, that's because I'm doing the second lick that its harder to hear on those parts. And then in the end of the phrase I do a bit of the first lick that is more audible. I just didn't want to do in the guitar what was more obvious in this song, and decided to play the lick that is harder to ear. That is also why I do chords on the chorus instead of doubling the main synth, I think the cover benefits more from chords like that than basically another synth ahah But yeah I get your point :)

No disrespect but there's no such thing as unnecessary left hand movement. This is a way of playing that helps me had slightly changes in the sound of the notes produced. It helps you "get into" the feel you want to put in the phrase you're playing. If it helps you achieve that, then its not unnecessary. Also, I do a lot of slide in's and out's in those parts, so judge it how you want.
