Detailed, well prepared and patient explanation by an experienced gentleman. If I were living in UK, I will definitely buy the piano from you that I am currently looking for . Because the perfection of this video demonstrates how you will be helpful at support phase after the purchase. Because when I intent to buy any electronic device I care support phase rather than the price or other things. By the way price is so reasonable for this device in UK market (I quickly investigate it and compared with some other sites🙂 ) Thanks for putting all answers I'd like to ask.

Hi Chris thanks for your excellent guide to the CLP735. I just want to make one important correction: classical pianists constantly use the LEFT PEDAL to diminish and control the sound. It is an essential part of the instrument particularly when playing Chopin, Beethoven, Mozart, Schubert, Schumann, Brahms, Debussy etc etc the list goes on .....and on....So what I am saying is that the LEFT PEDAL is extremely important !

Hi, good explanation from you. I plan to buy CLP-735, after looking at Yamaha store in my city, CLP-735 type is no longer sold in that store, as a replacement is CLP-835, but they do not have a sample unit that I can try or compare, because it is still a new release, but if I want to buy it they have stock. Do you think I should just buy CLP-835 without trying it? The price is almost the same as CLP-735, around USD $1,632 (rosewood or black color) in Indonesia. I did not find any review about CLP-835 anywhere at this time. Maybe you have tried it, if it is better than CLP-735 then I will buy it immediately, because there are only 2 in stock Thank you

My son just started learning piano so we are considering buying the Yamaha CLP 735. However, the shop assistant told us that you cant pass 5th grade exam by just practicing on a digital piano. Is that true? I know it's still a long way as he just started but does it really mean we need to switch to an acoustic piano later? What's stopping them passing higher piano exams when practising on a digital piano? is this just an old theory because of the older mechanism of digital pianos?

Oh yes, you certainly can. The wooden keys on CLP-745 are the key (no pun intended). That's a really good question! (note for anyone else reading: The CLP645 was the previous edition of the CLP745 so is no longer manufactured ). The CLP645 had wooden keys so I'd find that really attractive compared to the CLP735's plastic keys. If I was offered a brand new one from a box I'd probably go for CLP645 for that reason. If it was a preowned one I'd be more reluctant as you don't know how it's been treated. How sensitive is this digital to humidity? Should precautions be taken if one lives in a very humid environment?
@ePianoscouk3 жыл бұрын
Hi JoAnne. The main reason that traditional acoustic pianos are known to be sensitive to humidity is that it affects their tuning. Digital pianos do not go out of tune, therefore you don't need to worry about their environments, e.g. big changes in temperature. This is one of the reasons that digital pianos are becoming much more popular. They require essentially zero maintenance. I made a video about this here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/sJLan3duZ8ljd8U

The Yamaha CLP735 comes with a sheet music book called '50 Greats For The Piano'. It contains 50 pieces of classical music of varying difficulty. Yamaha really build these pianos to last and include a 5 year warranty. I've know people who have owned Yamaha Clavinovas for well over 20 years and they're still going strong. The thing that really impresses me is the way that Yamaha learn lessons from previous models and keep improving and making their digital pianos better and better, not just in terms of fuctions and features, but also how robust they are and how well they survive heavy levels of playing. They've built a great reputation by doing this. (note: We supply many different makes aside from Yamaha but they in particular have really impressed me with their efforts).

The reason I asked the life span of this piano is because I have owned two high-end digital pianos: a Roland (KR5500, I think) which lasted 15 years, and now I have a Kawaii Concert Performer CP155 which I bought in 2004. Both Roland and Kawaii started a crackling sound when turned on. It sounded like very loud fire crackers and I am afraid to turn it for fear that it might start a fire. After spending over $350 + dollars on repairs, i decided to let go of of the Roland. Now my Kawaii is doing the same thing...this is the reason why I am investigating a new digital piano with different voices, different beats, keyboard that will split for orchestral accompaniment, etc., and a touch-sensitive touch like a grand piano ( or somewhat close). I want to teach on the digital piano from time to time although I also hVe a Steinway Grand. Do you mind giving me an email to get in touch with you or a local guy in the Orlando, Florida, USA area. Thank you.

Yamaha Arius YDP164 is a great piano for a beginner. Have a look at the Yamaha Arius YDP-S54 too as it's virtually the same piano but in a more modern style of cabinet - we made a video comparing them a few days ago here: www.epianos.co.uk/yamaha-ydp-164-vs-ydp-s54-whats-the-difference/

Great content. But, lol, these questions that you addressed, I mean, this is like common knowledge people can just search online, why come through the trouble of making this video? no hate here, but I think these questions doesn't just apply to Yamaha CLP 735, again, it's common knowledge with a digital piano, so I think the name is misleading. I clicked on this video expecting something specific to this model, and I got something else entirely different.

Thanks V. Vu - I can't argue with what you say about all this information being available online. It absolutely is! However, in my experience of seeing people face-to-face in our showroom, questions like this come up frequently. Therefore I thought it would be useful to summarise them in a video. Plus I really wanted to help people (particularly seniors) that perhaps aren't as adept as you at researching these things online. No hate here either my friend, thanks for saying hi and for your feedback.

@@ePianoscouk I agree with V. Vu's comment. This video is great for learning how a digital piano works, but "What do the pedals do" and "can I control the volume," etc, aren't very helpful questions for *actual pianists* trying to determine the quality of *this particular* instrument against other similar ones, which is what the title of this video leads us to believe we'll hear. How about, "from 1-10, rate the ability for a classical pianist reliably practice technically demanding pieces of music on this piano with the accurate nuances in feel and sound as if they were playing a real grand piano. How about the realism of the note decay of the sustain pedal, the realism of the una corda pedal, realism of touch? Is it possible to half-depress the sustain pedal, or is it binary on/off? Are there any negatives when compared to pianos at a similar price point?" etc. Anyone can find objective information like, "is there a music stand," people come to KZbin to hear people's *opinions* about specifics, not things they can just Google in 30 seconds. No hate here either, you seem like a great guy, just making a recommendation.

Simply common questions. Why afraid to ask?
@ePianoscouk3 жыл бұрын
I've found that some people are a little shy about asking certain questions for fear of appearing dumb. I sympathise with them so I wanted to make this video to try to help.

Afraid to ask?! This is something unique about UK or England I guess. We also repress certain emotions in other Western countries,.but afraid to ask about a digital piano,. Wow that's some next level weird stuff
