Epic Awesome Spec Miata battle at the 2022 American Road Race of Champions Road Atlanta

This race epitomizes what makes Spec Miata racing so much fun. At any time 8 cars were within 2 seconds of the leader and capable of pulling off the win. So many lead changes, so many side by side runs through turns, door handle to door handle.
Danny Steyn races SCCA and NASA events in both Spec Miata and Super Touring Lite cars. His cars are prepared by OPM Autosports, his SM is powered by Rossini Racing Engines, his STL is powered by Nelson Racing Engines, and both cars are stopped courtesy G-Loc Brake Pads, with contingency support from Hoosier Racing Tire, Toyo Tires and Mazda Motorsports.
Danny also races Hare Scrambles and OffRoad Races on motorbikes, and does Adventure Touring on bikes around the world.

thank you Walter. It was not your typical Spec Miata race where everyone stays in a train and works together until the last few laps. There were so many passes, so many lead changes, and so many smiles inside the helmet while it was all going on!

@@dannysteyn Im looking into getting on a track soon, Im getting rid of a couple of my cars and getting a miata. Im 44 and hope to be able to race on a track one day and many after that. Ive been following racing for 2 yrs now and onlu sim race but Im ready for the real thing. Untill then I will keep watching for inspiration. Stay safe and keep on keeping on.

I am learning but why do you bump their cars? I would think that was dangerous and fights would be breaking out afterward.

Its called bump-drafting. Two cars pushing each other go faster than one car on their own. So we bumpdraft to try and pull away from the rest of the field, so that on the last lap we are only battling with one other racer.
