Don't put them back sfter you handle them for so long witndry hands is terrible evidently you have never been taught that not your fault. Look into it from a knowledgeable wise brook trout fisherman. Because 6am positive.Troutdo not tolerate being handled like other fish they don't have scales to protect there weak spots. i know you do not mean it But you need to know you are killing those fish.
