Loved the music of this rebuilds, absolute beauty. The movies were pretty alright, liked 1 and 2, 3 was a little weird, same with 4. Overall enjoyed the ending but nowhere near as good as the show and end of eva.

I agree. I really dug how feel good the rebuilds ended up feeling. Even though I really think the OG show outshines the rebuilds hard, I still think it ended the only way I would have been satisfied with. Like if they just the same thing again just more extravagant, I'd feel disappointed. Maybe could have been done better, but I was quite satisfied is how I feel.

The main thing I hated about the rebuilds was the fanservice. Mari is my most hated character in any anime, and while I loved Asuka in the OG series I absolutely despised her in the rebuilds.

Sin of Genesis is pure perfection. 😁and the whole thing with mari has something to do with the wife from the author (i think its Bad because asuka and shinji where Just better or even Ray and shinji was better than mari) the Story is basically New Things can make you Happy because His now wife Just came Out of nothing to him and Made him Happy that's why mari Just jumps in and became shinjis happiness (shinji is a self-insert for the author and Mari His now wife) i don't really Like the ending but at the same time its perfect for the series its Not good or Bad it Just fits where it shoudn't fit (its pure Neon Genesis Evangelion 😌

I've read a theory based on character designers stating that Rebuild needed a fresh character to break the loop. Both Asuka and Rei have a passive, would it be in the serie AND in the original work so to illustrate the real change in Shinji, he has to go for someone else. He barely knows Mary, so this choice makes sense in that regard. Also, they added a chapter to the perfect edition of the manga, letting the reader know that Mary was a former colleague of Yui living in her shadow. She's older than the other children by about 18 years, hence the scene with Fuyutsuki right before he loses his enveloppe as they had this particular passive. Rei illustrate the difficulty of binding with others. Asuka showcases the need for recognition, both being two pendants of shinji. Mating with one or the other makes no sense since Shinji overcomes both.
