Wonderful images from this "smoking" bird - and a very instructive story how you got it. Im am so thankful you share your precious experience with us, so we can learn about all your reflections in planning. Such amazing pictures are by no means the result of pure chance - they are the fruit of careful preparation, knowledge of animal behaviour, and the mastering of the equipment. We have no such photogenic black-and-red birds here in Switzerland, but some other nice species.

Congratulations Simon! I applaud you for your achievement and take my hat off to you, just simply wow. I have just recently began wildlife photography and you are my favourite wildlife photographer to follow. Your videos somehow make me feel that I am sitting in the same time and space as you, well done.
