Henry Rollins is an interesting dude. Definitely an artist. He was the lead singer of the punk band Black Flag for a period. He has done a one man spoken word tour. He has done quite a bit of acting/movies. Definitely one of a kind.

Henry Rollins is intellectual. I've always felt that he wrote this song in the "third person" as a public service message to help society see beyond the facade to better guard ourselves. I think Lex sees it as a good break up song because the main character is coming clean and being honest about his behavior... and that's something we all long for after a breakup but rarely get. It's cathartic. Another Rollins song I would highly recommend is "Low Self Opinion", it's another deep rocker!

Rollins has a great story about meeting David Lee Roth at some function in the early 80s. They both knew each other and Dave pulled out a cold beer from his coat pocket and gave it to Henry and said, "How about THAT?!" Imagine those two talking to each other. That must've been something else. They're of the same mold despite their disparate music styles. Both love talking at the very least, but both are smart and witty and offbeat characters.

I like this song a lot and stayed up until the middle of the night to hear it on the live stream (I live in England). Henry Rollins was the vocalist for Black Flag, a hardcore punk band which I loved. When they split up, Henry formed his own band and I saw them play on 3 occasions. Always an intense experience, with Henry giving it 100% emotional energy and commitment.

Henry Rollins is an iconic figure in entertainment... Started out as the vocalist for hardcore punk band Black Flag... then reached fame in the 90's as the frontman of Rollins Band... He also starred in roles in a number of movies - 'Heat' (w/ DeNiro, Pacino & Val Kilmer) and 'Johnny Mnemonic' (w/ Keanu Reeves & Ice-T) ... Lately, he's made a living doing spoken word tours... u can hear some of his humorous anecdotes and monologues on KZbin. He claimed he has ended his musical career after "achieving everything" he set out to do.

Can not believe you got to this - wow. Saw these guys at lollapalooza way back when. Going to recommend Low self Opinion, Another Life, and Grip from the album The End of Silence by Rollins Band but Henry Rollins is definitely a rabbit hole.

This song captures a lot of the energy of "My War", which was a song Rollins did when he was a member of Black Flag.

I've always loved this song ever since it was released. My ex-wife absolutely loathed this song. She's my ex because I realized she was a stone cold liar. That's probably why she hated it so much; she felt like it was calling her out, making her think about what a piece of sh** she was. Lex is right, it's a good breakup song. Every time I play it I think about how much she hated hearing it and it puts a smile on my face as I turn the volume up.

Check out Delicate Tendrils by Les Claypool and the Holy Mackerel. Les Claypool on instruments, Henry Rollins on spoken word vocals. Dark and intense stuff.

You should react to 80s black flag with Rollins singing. they had about 4 vocalists before him but he was the final best fit for them.

Henry is an intense cat but also quite intelligent. Doesn't touch drugs don't even think he drinks alcohol. Dude lifts weights and works from the moment his eyes open until they close. Dude is always amped. He has done a lot of different stuff after gaining notoriety in the mainstream market with Rollins Band. Black Flag was a popular punk band in the 80s but were not tapping into mainstream culture, more kind of underground but they were huge in the punk scene.

This song is about dealing with a narcissistic person, a pathological liar, a sociopath. Henry Rollins is a very intense person. Highly intelligent, very straightforward, direct and honest in real life. He has had a very crazy life and he has used punk rock, singing for Black Flag, and his solo music, to get his anger and frustrations out and to confront his demons. He is actually a very insecure, well mannered, well spoken, polite, and kinda shy person that doesn't like being in the spotlight unless onstage and then he is an animal. He is someone I have always looked up to as a human being because he is so real and genuine.

I was thinking about this song last week, maybe in conjunction with a Hole reaction and another of theirs I couldn't put my finger on. Henry Rollins is a cool and fascinating guy, always thoughtful, abrasive, non-conformist iconoclast. Terrific filmography too, after or alongside his iconic punk/etc. music career.
