Wrong title got added at 4:05. Should be California Towhee. Not sure how that slipped in there! You may recognize some of these moments from our other California videos, but this one features the entire day and adds in extra moments that aren't shown in the other vids! LET'S GO!! Fruit review is back! I'm heavily invested in the badgerland birding side quest of finding the best fruit in America

Many of us in California have no idea how many unique birds are nearby. Thanks for the tour!

Yellow billed magpies are so silly! I also love Nutall’s woodpeckers, their little “beeps” are funny!

I’m gonna tell you a story of how I started liking birds. So 1 night I wake up to a sound of an owl calling, so for some reason I get scared and run to my parents room, and I told my dad “is that an owl?” And he says yes so I go to bed. Now the next morning I go on my phone, and look up owl noises so me and my dad listened and it was Boreal Owl, so I was like cool! Then I start looking up facts about the boreal owl well, I just went on merlin and then I looked where they breed and I was shocked. I live in a city near Sacramento Ca, and it said they breed nowhere near there so then to this day I don’t know what it was, it for sure sounded like a Boreal Owl so I just don’t what it was could’ve been a great horned owl but it sounded no way like what I heard. That’s the story so now I like birds. Pretty cool right?

If you ever get to see the grebes do their mating dance in person it’s amazing.

Just got a job in SoCal, and definitely hoping to go up into the center of the state a couple of times.

Glad you guys enjoyed birding in my state. Nuttall's Woodpecker is the woodpecker species I see the most. You accidentally labeled your California Towhee as Canyon Wren.

Awesome stuff, definitely a dream to visit and bird California. What was the dove calling during the “fruit review”? Not to be picky, but there were some typos in the bird names posted on screen. Great job as always, thanks, Patrick

@@RebeccaODonnell-b9n if I’m thinking of right spot I believe it was a Eurasian Collared Dove. And typos for what species?

@@BadgerlandBirdingThanks for the reply. I was talking about the California towhee/ canyon wren mixup which I see you addressed. I also thought the scientific name for yellow-bill magpie was wrong because I saw “Nuttalli” and I thought that would be the woodpecker. I didn’t realize the two species had similar species names, so my bad. Thanks again for the reply, hope I wasn’t out of line.

@BadgerlandBirding15 сағат бұрын
We made some expanded videos specifically about the Yellow-billed Magpie and the Clark's Grebe so this one was the whole day that included both of those experiences. We can trade you a DOWA for a NUWO

@@BadgerlandBirding deal. But more than anything I really need an Eastern Towhee. Oh man Ive seen like 520-something species in the US but never an EATO. 🙏

You wont get mugged if you stay out of the cities. And bring everything in your car inside. Even if you are just getting a burger at in-n-out. Do NOT leave valuables in your car. We learned it the hard way.
