DONT JUST BUY ONE. Stop, before you get one search EVERYTHING about chinchillas. Cages, food, dust bath, chews, vitamins, treats(if u want), toys etc. And these are endangered so some states/countries don't allow them.

Please don't get a chinchilla with the hopes that it will be warm and cuddly - they're not what you think, and most breeders won't let you purchase babies, as they are still in need of their mother's care. Sure, they'll run around your space and eat treats from your hand, but it's extremely rare to get one that cuddles with you or shows you any level of interest beyond food and running around. Over time, they'll warm up to you once they begin to trust you (takes months or longer, and only if you spend time with them nearly every day) but do not underestimate the enormity of responsibility of owning a chin. There are hundreds of rescue chins that need homes, mainly because people buy chinchillas thinking they're cuddly and interactive when in reality they are a great amount of work to maintain, and they live up to 20 years. Please try to think about chinchillas *not* in terms of how they will interact or please you, but instead how you'll be expending energy and effort for upwards of 20 years in order to keep a beautiful small creature healthy, happy, and safe - oftentimes with little to no positive feedback or interaction from them aside from accepting food and being adorable. :)
