There have been a few comments about the no fishing sign at the start of the video, just thought I'd clarify. No I was not fishing illegally, it was an editing oversight. I skipped about 50m forward right after passing the no fish sign, so for those new to my channel it looks like I was fishing illegally. Watch my other Pandan videos(there are many) and you will notice that about 25m after that very sign, there is another sign stating that the legal fishing ground begins. You can actually see the legal ground sign in the distance at 1:25.

hahaha, that intro caught me! xD oh yeah, maybe you could do a short video on spinnerbait lure.. last time I watch FacePalmFishing video fishing using some daiso lures which include a spinnerbait but end up skunk. So i never thought spinnerbait doesn't work there at Pandan.. happy chinese new to both of you!

Ah spinner baits like the one in Facepalm's video are definitely not the best lure to use, it really doesn't work well locally for some wierd reason. The spinners I was talking about are in-line spinners like the kozo spin, Jackall Deracoup and jigpara spin.

well that's weird.. i thought its because of the type of blade or quality of spinnerbait.. is jigpara spin like the one with a single small treble hook & a colorado blade at the back?

Yep thats the one. I think the main factor is the shape of the spinner. Spinnerbaits have the blades located away from the hook or trailer, the purpose is to create a large profile flash. Inline spinners on the other hand have the blades located right behind the head of the bait so as to mimic a swimming fish. Maybe that difference is why spinnerbaits don't work locally.

Nice fish! We also have Peacocks here in Southeast Florida. Not native to the area they were introduced here in 1986 to help control the Tilapia population. Of the three species (spotted, tri-bar, & butterfly) that were introduced, only the butterfly has survived all these years. I've caught hundreds through the years and the adrenaline rush never seems to go away every time I hook one. I didn't know until about 2 years ago that peacocks also existed in Singapore. Are they native to the area or were they also introduced to Singapore from the South American amazon?

Hey man, thanks! Yea I've seen videos of the Peacocks in Florida, you guys have crazy good pea bass fishing over there! Peacocks were introduced into our waters as well, though who introduced them it is still largely debated and unknown. They ended up completely wiping out some populations of native fish species over the years which is never a good thing but I guess from an angling perspective I can't really complain :).

I think it was a legitimate foul hook because as you said they wont come back so quickly so i think he wasn’t interested in the lure anymore but i think while you were retrieving i think he either swam into the lure or you retrieved and accidentally hooked him in the head thanks for the vid btw!big fan btw hope i get to see u somewhere but not so soon but yah thx

Nice fish BCSG! I think I hooked the same fish 3 weeks ago at the SAME SPOT. It was so heavy I thought sangkot. But right before landing, it jumped and snapped the line. Dang it was my first fish😪 Been to Pandan every week but still zero fighter😭

Keep trying, very often it's about luck really, especially in high pressured legal grounds. Sometimes you can be doing everything right but still not get any fish. But if you dont give up, sooner or later the waters will deliver!

Topwaters worked close to the bank at the legal low grounds. Small suspending jerk baits casting directly out into the legal area also works sometimes. At the high wall side, try vertically jigging bucktails, rubbers or metal jigs along the wall. Watch out for fry swimming near the wall and if you see any work your jigs/rubbers right where the fry are to target the parents.

Hey bcsg, a quick question: I got myself a Scorpion 71 and I have it on a 3,5-11 gram rod. I have already cleaned the bearings but I think the casting is still a bit difficult with lures of 5g and below. What ist a mod you would recommend to get better Casting with low weights?

You could consider getting a finesse spool for it from Ray's Studio. Haha editing oversight on my part there. If u watch my other videos in Pandan Reservoir you'll notice that about 25m after that sign is a sign that shows the legal fishing ground begins. I simply skipped right to where I started fishing and the last segment happened to be where the no fishing sign was.

Is it an avail spool you have on the calcutta? Do you use the original sentifugal brake unit?

Yep it's an avail spool. I use the avail 4 point brake unit that came with the spool but yes the original spool's 6 point brake unit will also fit on the avail spool if you want to switch it out.

Sorry to mention this but, did anyone see the "No Fishing" sign at the beginning of video? I've never been to SG, so does that mean catch and release only, or strictly no fishing at all? Yes that was a no fishing sign. It is meant to inform ppl that the area (at the start of the video where the sign is) was not legal to fish. Watch any of my other pandan videos(there are many on my channel) you will see that about 15-20m after this sign, there is a sign that marks where the legal fishing ground starts, and that is where I start to fish. I just happened to skip over the part showing me walking into the legal grounds when editing this particular video.

I had a med heavy shimano teramar, extra fast action. I want to get into finesse fishing but the rood seems to stiff. Ive only caught two fish on artificials with it and it took alot of effort to make the tip flex.

That's actually a great idea! I have landing nets that I use for other places but somehow it never occurred to me to use one here. I've seen some japanese guys with those foldable landing nets that can be snapped out with just 1 hand and extend a couple of meters, will definitely be looking into getting one now!

The Chinese here called it "Loh Han Fish" and it is kept as an aquarium fish at home by many local Chinese....after rumours of a guy seeing numbers pattern on one fish body and striking big on the local lottery when he bought those same numbers.... A few years down the road, it appeared in our local river system and lakes, much to the joys of local anglers....Although, the eco - system's pecking order was rearranged....This fish is now the biggest and baddest guy in town... 😎

Why don’t you use a landing net which is a safer way for the fish than hauling it in or using pliers on the fish In uk we also use disgorgers for getting the hooks out it’s a better and safer way for the fish On many fishing videos the treatment of the fish is incorrect and sliding them over rocks will damage them Use a landing net if you care about the fish Uk anglers do not treat fish in such a manner I’m sorry but your treatment of the fish is wrong

I use a plastic fish lip gripper btw, it is like a boga grip but wider and rounded to prevent piercing and damaging the fish's jaw. I use pliers to remove hooks because it is the safest and quickest means that I am aware of to get trebles out of a fish's mouth. I don't know if we are referring to the same thing but the disgorgers I have are specifically designed for removing gut hooks or hooks that are too deep in the fish's mouth for long nose pliers to reach.
