EPIC FAIL IN AQUASCAPING - TOMMY FINISHES (OFF) HIS PLANTED TANK

This was going to be a really nice and innovative planted tank layout. Tommy did his best with the setup of this Iwagumi (rock formation) aquascape, came up with a good idea, a matching aquatic plant selection. With all his efforts, this turned out to be an epic fail. Just watch the video to find out why.

It could have been worse, the fallen rocks could have shattered the glass and hurt someone. This can be fixed. I have the utmost respect to this channel and Tommy for showing the failure of this phase, this reflects strength and confidence, thus, I don’t see this as a failure but an experience that we learn from. Tommy, take a step back, recoup your thoughts and im sure you will come up with an amazing solution that is powerful enough to inspire us all. IN "TOMMY" WE TRUST!

Hi Tommy, Feel really sorry for you buddy but I really think this is probably one of the most honest videos I’ve seen. This happens to all aquascapers in one way or another. And I am reallly happy you guys being so transparent about it. These things happens even to the best. A very good way of showing we all do mistakes but MORE important sharing those with community so we all can learn from it. So buddy GOOD JOB....and sorry for the unfortunate luck with the brittle stone. Think the scape would have turned out amazingly.

Need some heavy water ferts in a all decosand aquarium though guys :). But its doable. Ive done it, but you need to use EI levels and 50% weekly WC to get healthy growth or there is algae gallore. I had a iwagumi aquarium with a lush HC carpet and no soil. But I'm sorry for Tommy, I really liked this style until it all cracked for him. I really like small plants in a bigger aquascape as he pointed out that the anubias were too big, even as petite form. Coupled together with 40-50 small light colored tetras it is very nice idea with micro plants. Marsilea hirsuta tends to grow quite big leafs in good conditions though, and they do shoot out a big amounts of runners. I would maybe leans towards Glossostigma instead, or even MC, as they are smaller, grow slower and dont have as tuff runners. Great content again from Green Aqua, even though it failed, we have all been there!

The silver lining here is that thank goodness you caught that on video. It makes for good video content. High drama production value! I think we’ve all been there and can relate to the heartbreak you must have felt. My heart broke just watching. This applies not only to aquascaping, but also to so many other things that we are passionate about in our lives. It could be a hobby, or an occupation, or even a personal relationship. We start off with this idea of how perfect and magical it’s going to turn out...we have so many ideas and inspirations. We take care and have patience with the planning and nurturing of it. We can see in the mind’s eye exactly how it will turn out. And then we set off on that journey, full of wonderment and bursting with pride and joy. Sometimes though, little things don’t go as planned, and we wonder...is this a sign of things to come? Should I compromise my vision and and just go with it, or is it the universe trying to tell me that maybe my energy is better spent on other things right now, or maybe an entirely different version of this endeavor? Am I even a person who believes in such things? And then, at our lowest, with confidence shaken, we start to question the purpose. Why am I driven to do this? Is it selfish of me to spend so much energy in this way? And then someone appears and reminds us of how talented we really are...of how we enrich the lives of others by what we do. How we inspire others to pursue their passions. Can’t wait to see which way you proceed!
