The cider actually works well. Run the back of a butter knife along the edges to cut through the crust. Place the tray in a large plastic bag. Reach in and roll up the silicon liner and it will crumble and drop off the silicon.
@TheBaldeagle001Ай бұрын
Could you use a rolling pin to break it up so get the apple cider out. You are going to use it as a crumbled powder anyway. Seen in another video where he used a rolling pin to break up coffee with cream and sugar in it to make his own instant coffee for hiking and camping, just add hot water. Don't have a freeze dryer yet, but I was wondering if that would work. Also, I don't remember the type of freeze dryer he had, but it was red.

I dont use a liner when doing liquids so i can use a spatula or board scraper to get up anything that sticks. I also lay a piece of parchment paper over anything that will puff up and get on the heaters, like orange juice will. It still dries, and puffs up but doesnt stick.

What mylar candy bags do you use? Are they gusseted?
@chelseycarrillo8824Ай бұрын
High sugar items just need to be diluted when freeze drying. For stubborn / sticky items get a metal bench scraper. Everything just pops right off the trays and it helps scoop them into the bags as well. Dollar tree sells them. Also it’s a simmer pot not a drink, you can omit the cider, esprit he drink mix. It’s just adding sugar. You already have the spices for the aroma.

Get some packets of instant cider to use in your mixture. They probably have it in your grocery store in the section where they sell small envelopes of hot cocoa packets. I agree with the commenter usbpphillips about using parchment to cover liquids that may puff up and get on the heaters. Take a table knife and go around the edges of your cider pan and then insert a thin metal spatula under the mat to remove the hardened cider and the mat. I would do it over a large kitchen towel or a table cloth you don't care about. Flex your mat and the mixture should come apart. Then you can take your solids and grind them into a powder in your vitamix.
@judyblaise1639Ай бұрын
I’m so sorry it didn’t work out like you wanted because it would have been so nice to have. You could have added water to the cider to “thin” it out and it would not have freeze dried up to your next shelf. I think you can chunk up the FD cider with an egg flipper or a knife even if you don’t use for potpourri you can drink it. I love your Alaska! So pretty!

For whole cranberries: Parboil them for 30-45 seconds in a pan of boiling water. Immediately drain them and place them in a bowl filled woth water and ice. Drain. Check to see if they have opened up. I didn’t know what a simmer pot was and still am not sure. You don’t eat the food? I did stop the video to enjoy the orange slices. I have some ideas with the apple cider below. Don’t the apples have a core/seeds? Well, I suppose if you’re not consuming the food… The sled/jump was impressive, sorry it melted, but I’m also glad to see it didn’t go all the way down to the street (even if there’s not a lot of traffic)! Well done on the thumbnail, I had no idea what the fail was about based on the photo (good clickbait). Thank you for bringing us into Fred Meyer, I would have been clueless what it was if you had just mentioned the name. Just like if I said Cub, Lunds/Byerlys or even the supplier SuperValu, those with a Krogers, Albertsons or Vons (or is that last one just a Las Vegas chain?) would know these are all grocery stores, as grocery stores are mostly regional. The cider: while not portioning it out, the green dividers may come in handy pre-freezing, helping to remove it easier when done. If not consuming any of it, how about diluting the cider with more water? Covering the frozen cider with a paper towel or layer of parchment might help stop the mess. The jars do look much better than a Mylar bag; more presentable. Good job with your packing! I’m surprised William-Sonoma doesn’t tell you what’s in each box. #2 looked like a tea steeper though I could be wrong. Put fresh dry leaves in, and steep in hot water. It looked like there might be multiple uses for these things!
