Hi Becky, I’ve been a faithful subscriber and watcher for a long time now but have never commented. I so appreciate your videos in a time in my life where I am home with my toddlers in town. We’re waiting to find our larger property and I feel pretty alone when it comes to having people in my life who understand my love of gardening, homesteading, preserving etc. A while ago I saw multiple comments on your videos from people who thought it was funny that you said you would have more time to garden next year when you have a baby and I just felt like I needed to comment. I’m sure you know this, but your sweet baby will not keep you from doing the things you love. Babies definitely make everything take longer and you will be interrupted much more often, but I have built as large a garden as my property will offer and landscaped, grown food and preserved it etc and I’ve had two babies 15 months apart in the past 2 years. It really is about what’s important to you, having a good team with your husband, and figuring out how to integrate your babies in with what you’re doing. And they have fun and learn along the way. Anyway, I know you don’t know me and this is a long comment, but I just hoped to encourage you with this comment. Thank you so much for all the wonderful content you make. It may be dumb, but I think of you as a friend in a time when they are few and far between for me. -Courtney

lol, you dropped the maple syrup, magically knocked out a shelf out of the fridge, spill a jar of jam, often your kitchen has dirty dishes. Thank you for actually being real. I just watched your Pantry Chat with Homesteading Family and she said how she always tidies the kitchen etc and that, that isn't real life, but I much prefer the way you are real with your audience. Thank you for the authenticity that is you.

God love you and your transparancy Becky. Most people would edit out their "oopsie" moments but you keep it real. It's just one of the many reasons your audience loves and appreciates you so much. Personally, I feel like I can try new things and it's ok to not do it well or have "oops" moments when I know others have the same struggles. We are all in it together and celebrate successes with one another. Keep up the great work and sending many blessings to you and your growing family. XO from Nashville

Tip from a klutzy cook, go to the dollar store or Walmart and get the rubber style shelf liner. You want the ones that have holes through it. Cut them close to the size of your cutting boards. Use underneath the cutting boards to keep them from sliding around. Bonus, they last forever and wash up easily by hand and air dry. I have greatly decreased my need of finger size band aids and accidental spills.

Becky: Hello from Ontario, Canada. I just found your channel a couple months back and I’m so annoyed I didn’t find you sooner. You are such an inspiration. You have me interested all over again in gardening and preserving (I’m 65+). I love your cooking videos too - you remind me of Julia Child. Making wonderful, healthy food without the fuss and fanfare. You measure wrong - and adapt; things fall on the floor and you clean them up; you’re out of something and you substitute. As you say, yours is a working kitchen and sometimes things go wrong. Oh Well. I’m no fortune teller, but I could easily see you doing a cooking show. Forget Dental Hygiene - this is your calling. Your love of all things ‘home’ is evident in all that you do. With a baby on the way, I can see you just tucking in and growing your channel. All the best.

I hope to begin my Emergency Preparedness journey. It won’t be anything near close to your fantabulous, lovely Homestead, but I know better. If you can, We All Can and Should! My folks and our neighbors saved many in our community, during the Teton Flood Disaster Idaho! Cuz…they All had FOOD STORAGE SUPPLY with All Necessities. Our area was on dry ground. They opened up the high school to provide meals and shelter, to many affected by the high flooding. This was before it was even a “thing”. I have a little storage, but it needs revamping into meals, items, etc. that makes sense. Covid numbed me, while many turned into obnoxious hoarders! Lol 😂 Supplies are important and can be accomplished wisely and within reason. Thank you for opening your heart and home and loving this adventure. Thank you for showing and teaching us. You have brought very tenderly fond memories back into my life, as I was raised on Spuds, Gardens, Harvest, and everything Grown, Canned and Wrapped in Love! I miss my parents dearly, so definitely save and treasure these moments. This is your first baby…journal this special time in your life. One tip for making jam, especially when you have toddlers running around making it hard to stand at the stove for a long time, is to use a bread maker. The newer ones have a jam setting. I mix it all in my Vitamix (I like more of a fruit butter consistency), cook it in my bread maker and then water bath can it. I can’t do huge batches but I can usually do 5 half pints at a time. I triple the recipe on the low sugar pectin container (I use the jars, not the individual packets) and use the max sugar (1.5 cups total).

But he really didn't like the meal that way and he was asking me why i sliced the peppers instead of chopping them. It was hard for me to chop them as i didn't have a good knife and all, and i was used to slicing them all my life! And it didn't make any sense! A pepper is a pepper, no matter the shape! But i started chopping them soon after. I haven't met anybody with such preferences coz nobody talks abt it so thank you for talking abt it. I understand more now and I'm not alone in this experience 😊 P.s. in my country, we don't much pay attention to things like these. Now that i think about it, my son disliked sliced carrots in a soup but liked it when they were grated...i just thought he hated carrots in general...now he eats them any way i cut them 😆.

Becky, you are so real! I love how you leave all the 'ooopsies' in your videos. Makes me feel right at home! I so enjoy spending time in your kitchen. Everything looks great!

Becky thank you for keeping things real. I love the fact that you are in a real working kitchen and not a studio kitchen. I helps all of us to feel like we can do it too. So fun watching you and your pups bring joy to it all. Also love learning from you. Very inspiring and yummy. Thank you!

The flour and butter made a "paste". Love how you don't edit your videos so we can see everybody has their mess-ups. You just roll with the punches and keep going. So refreshing to see that. God Bless you and ALL your family members, and especially that precious bundle you and Josh are so patiently waiting for his/her debut! Much love from Louisiana.🥰

I thought of you today while making my fresh picked Apple pie filling. Nothing better than homemade from scratch cooking. I've been doing it since about 1980. Hope you both feel better soon.

I was watching one of your old videos and someone called you Better crocker, I'm 83. When I first got married I saved blue chip stamps to get the Betty Crocker cook and gave it to my sister, like you I have always cooked from scratch, and that book used to many package products. My friends tease my and say they can't find scratch in the store. Keep up the amazing videos. I no longer can cook so I cook with you. Also in my younger life I to pressures canned, ALOHA

How are you feeling Becky? I had a thought the you could put the anti-fatigue mats on the floor in front and behind the shelves just in case of an "oopsie" like what happened to the tomato jars. Those mats are so spongy that a jar probably wouldn't break unless it bounced twice and onto the concrete. The mats are easier to clean than a rug.

Blessings Ms. Becky, you are precious beyond words! I love how you multitask in your everyday life. You put the rest of us to shame. lol😊 Also, thank you for keeping it real and leaving in the clips of when things go wrong. That is what I love about you. Life throws everything at us and you show everyone how to handle it with grace and a smile. Keep up the wonderful work you are doing. I appreciate it very much. Hope you and Josh are fit as a fiddle in no time. Sending you hugs and much love from east Texas.🥰

Watching you cut the vegetables for the soup, and your comments on how small the carrots are, made me think of the veggie chopper we use. I have a large family I do most of the cooking for, and it saves SO MUCH time! There are different size blades, including one for dicing, so you can go pretty small for things like onions. It's totally worth it! Just be sure to get one with good reviews so it holds up.

Oh Becky, check out making your own yogurt. I keep 2 heaping tablespoons in my freezer to start my next batch. It's a generational starter so my first batch is always just my starters for the freezer. It's so easy with the IP. And it is so much tastier and like you, I love to know what goes into my families food. I so love to watch you girl! You give me so many ideas, so many encouraging moments! I got the electric canner and am adding to my pantry. I'm 63 but I had my first garden this last summer, all because of you! I have a bit of success with container gardening and dream about next year. I am so excited for you in this next season of life. I'm praying for you, Josh and your little one on the way.

Becky, you should contact Le Creuset about your Dutch oven. First you need to call them. They will want the numbers on the inside of the lid & the bottom of the pan. They will give information on how & where to send it. They will then send you a new one. It can take several weeks but it's well worth it. Le Creuset makes a liquid cleaner it works wonderfully. 🙂

I found a Le Cruset 4 qt. Dutch oven at an Estate Sale a few years ago. 1970's vintage orange. It was a MESS, but I cleaned it up and seasoned just like a cast iron skillet. Best tip is to soak with some bleach in the cleaning process.

Today was lessons from you. 😀I canned 18 pints of pork roast. And when I was done and open the canner, grease in the water, they had siphoned. Instead of getting upset I heard your voice say that’s OK we just need to use it on something different. So I now have six Ziploc bags of pulled pork in my freezer, and two dozen pork and cheese burritos in my freezer. Thank you so much for your inspiration. I love how you always say oh that’s OK! It always makes me feel like I can fix anything.

I'm so so glad your beautiful jam set up so nicely for you! My Nanny taught me my jamming skills about 45 years ago and her RULE was NEVER double your batch of jam. I was a wee bit worried for you! Today I made mixed berry jam because when we did the freezer cleanout in preparation for our local farmer bulk pork order I found some freezer weary berries that were perfect for jamming!
