we started a new light rail line in Switzerland and it went about just as well. best was a road construction company parking their roller on our line and having gone to lunch. when we found the operator he was baffled and asked ''you guys are operating now??''

A camera in the tram and a fine of £100 for every minute that the tram is made to wait could be a remedy.

Interesting to note the tram drops it's pantograph and relies on batteries for next 3 stops past the town hall.

That was really funny in a country like ENGLAND. This is a very very common issue in Kolkata where Trams ply on some routes nowadays.

There should have been a few tow trucks there to remove the vehicles.

A solution to this is ONLY TRAMS!!! & pedestrians allowed other vehicles are likely to clamped lifted & removed & heavily fined. & that should be applied in every country that has problems & issues like this daily.

In some countries trains and trams push illegally parked vehicles out of the way. It would be interesting if that were to happen here.

Was the van ticketed and towed ? There is a moniker on the UK called “white van man”, which usually refers to them being an ass when it comes to road rules. In the USA, it’s usually BMW drivers and lifted bro trucks who drive like asses.

There is some sort of rule here which says that you aren't commiting an offence of obstruction until you have been stopped for 10 minutes. White van man commonly uses that to make deliveries. HOWEVER, I would guess there is a bye-law relating to the tramway which makes it an offence to stop on the tram lines - full stop - which means if he thinks he is going to do it regularly he is going to find it expensive come the finish.
