My flight landed at 2:15 and I boarded the train at 3:15 easily. I reached the station before 3. I didn't have check-in luggage, so I walked with my small trolley bag outside the airport and took an e-rickshaw (tuk-tuk). Tell them you've to reach before 3 and they'll make sure you reach. Otherwise, board from Patliputra Jn

Fabulous Run. But sad fact is no longer these alcos are on mainline duty after mar 24 and no daily train either day or night in Tvr Karaikudi route till date. SR has fear of antagonizing the revenue of monopoly trains i.e. Cholan in day and RMM in night as well as Pallavan and Sethu in chord at Karaikudi. Even they have till date no proposal for daily run of exp to chennai or any other place between Tvr TPD Pkt Karaikudi route. Thanks

I'm not sure why it stops. It's not mentioned as a technical halt, but the train stops there almost on every run. Probably has something to do with the interlocking.

I can guarantee that Duronto didn't always stop. You can see in my video on board Duronto when it skipped Karur Jn 🙂 However, I can understand that they do need to give the caution orders for MNM VPT section

Would you travel with CrossCountry again? My wife and I are thinking about taking a trip to Cardiff, then Birmingham, from Newcastle, but the only thing putting us off is the fact that we would have to take CrossCountry. We have a had a few trips over the past 18 months, the vast majority of which have been on LNER trains and our experience with them has been fantastic .. booking easy, seat selection easy, fares reasonable, timing .. spot on. We don't want Country to be so bad as to ruin our trip

Unfortunately, I don't think you have much of an option. LNER to Kings Cross and Avanti to Birmingham would be too long, and Avanti isn't exactly the most reliable operator either. However, Cross Country trains can get super crowded around Birmingham. I'll not sugarcoat this in anyway. Hope you have a great vacation 🙂

@@_the_train_guy Many thanks Last year I went on a day trip to Durham and thought I would try XCountry. The train there was packed and my booked seat had already been taken, so I just sat elsewhere, feeling lucky to even get a seat. If somebody had asked me to move I would have done .. anyway it as only a 12-15 minute journey. When I left at Durham, there were folk everywhere .. even sitting on the luggage racks .. it was going to be a long trip to Plymouth for some of them. Luckily for me (and 100% luck) I had somehow booked an off-peak return, so took a TPE train back to NCL, which was my first time on TPE. the train was nearly empty. At that time, TPE were in a bad way .. I had already booked a trip to Liverpool for my wife and I and opted for LNER to Doncaster first, in case the direct trains were cancelled. I had seen a week before I booked 3-in-a-row direct NCL-LIV trains all cancelled, which would have made my wife mad etc etc. It seems TPE has improved quite a lot since .. I had 5 £2 reips a couple of months ago on them and all were fine
