What a great video to kick off the 2015/2016 season! Congratulations on such a great team of Falconers with some equally amazing birds, look forward to seeing some of the hunting the new season will bring for you. Must ask, what species is the bird at 0:58? It also appears at 1:03, looks to light-coloured to be a Red-Tail, unless it's some subspecies. Best of luck for the season and Happy Hawking! Bradley

+Bradazthefalconer the one at 0:58 looks like a peregrine falcon but im not positive about that

+xXxC0nSUm3rXxX1337 It's the bird after the Peregrine, looks like a White coloured Buteo of some kind. Like a Red-Tail but lighter coloured, love the bird's plumage and colours, I've never seen a Raptor such as this one before, that's why I'm so curious as to what it is.Bradley

+Bradazthefalconer You've likely never seen it because it is extremely rare. It's a leucistic red-tailed hawk. Her name is Angel, and she's quite angelic.

+falconersapprentice She's a bit of a rarity then, I don't expect many people would breed them? Does it behave and hunt like a normal Red-Tail or does the subspecies have any differences, if so, what are they? Thanks Bradley
@FalconryTold9 жыл бұрын
+Bradazthefalconer She hunts and behaves exactly as a normal Red-Tailed hawk would. Commonly, when left in the wild, they will pair and mate with regular colored Red-Tailed hawks. I'm sure there are attempts as breeding them, but most people prefer passage Reds, and I believe the genetic traits don't easily pass on to off spring.

How do you get involved with falconry if you do not have the means (i.e. space, time, money) to take care of your own bird?
