This particular Van Halen song always makes me think of Saturday afternoons. It’s relaxed but has a driving beat, so it’s like the energy of a Saturday - different from the weekday grind, but not quite the mellow energy of a Sunday. It’s right in between, and it’s beautiful. Plus it’s very much an 80s tune, from 1988. All the pop culture of the 80s come to mind when I hear this.

The original Van Halen fans crapped all over Sammy because he wasn't DLR (as if it was Sammy's fault Dave left the band!). I get it -- no one likes to see their favorite band change. But the fact is that Van Halen's music was much hookier (and therefore better, in my view) with Sammy, and Sammy's vocals are vastly superior to Dave's.

This song is why I roll my eyes at anyone who says "Van Halen, not 'Van Hagar.'" Sammy's the better singer, the better songwriter, and is just as good a frontman, as far as showmanship. He's is in 70s, now, and he still sounds just like this. The song is probably my favorite of theirs: love the atmosphere of the intro, Sammy's vocals, and, you didn't mention it, but it's worth mentioning: Michael Anthony's backing vocals, which are clutch. Top it off, it's just catchy as hell. Great song, period.

I agree absolutely with everything you said. Dave, at his time, was a good "hypeman" and I can't take that from him.... but he would never get in the same galaxy as Sammy does on vocals, musicianship, song writing, showmanship etc. I will give EVH props for his talented playing, but the way he treated Sammy and Michael..... I have nothing else good to say. Talk about biting the hand that feeds you. You'd think he'd know better after seeing the downfall or lack of hits bands like Foreigner, Journey, Kool and the Gang, The Commodores, Alabama and their drummer Mark that everyone thought was a member since he went on stage to accept all those awards, on every album cover, video, etc...and others, who fired or lost their lead singer due to their egos

Just when I think “man, it’s been a while”, you suddenly jump back into my favorite music genre. Very nice!

My favorite Van Halen song ever! Sammy sounded great, Eddie was, well Eddie! Michael with the great harmonies, and Alex keeping it all together...
