The POTC Kraken scene is still so iconic to me. The way those organ pipes hit as soon as the big tentacles destroy the ship. Absolutely stunning.
@skorpion71327 ай бұрын
Yeah, and also because you never get a true reveal of the creature itself. You basically get its massive tentactles and in the end its monstrous maw, but it remains under water through all of it. Also, the angle of its attack (from the bottom up) makes so much more impressive in comparison to most other scenes.

Not gonna lie, I find the trope of monsters roaring in a pose to intimidate everyone even further a bit overused. If a huge creature knows it is strong and menacing already and just gets straight to the job, that would be the one I'd really fear...because it would be so strong it wouldn't even bother to show it's power.

The roar's and posturing are realistic like territorial threat displays to try and assert dominance. Very common in the animal kingdom as a final warning. A lot of monsters and creatures have animal like intelligence so it makes sense they would exhibit the same types of behaviors.

I blame Jurrassic park, it's so overused with most intimidating cgi animals on screen now. They do it with lions, bears, and even when people shrink and are attacked by insects they even do it. While in real life, if those animals really wanted to kill you, they'll do it before you even realize you were even being attacked. Only animals that roar in intimidation are the ones scared or intimidated of you and/or are not predators.

SHALL. NOT.... PAAAASSSS" Everyone looked at us. @brick_mania2372 that's only if you believe Ancalagon was the size of the three mountains, which is just crazy. A fire-breathing dragon that size would have destroyed the armies of the Host of the Valar in seconds before Earendil could even arrive with the Great Eagles. The Balrog broke the mountainside when Gandalf defeated it...and a Balrog is only like double that of a human.

@mkytl270 a mountainside could be described otherwise. "I clung to the mountainside for support as I tied the rope back to the anchor". Thus the Balrog could have broken a couple miles of the mountainside falling (or rolling) down it, or could have made a 20 foot crater and both would have counted. I believe the mountains you speak of are specified as "towers" in one passage, not necessarily mountains. But even then, this is fantasy and believing in a dragon that big is a really cool thought.

Same, I would’ve loved to see more hellscape depravity or horror. Like the Baba Yaga scene with hell boy or more demons walking on earth and causing chaos idk so much potential.

Funny thing Smaug is seen as a big powerful dragon, when in fact he's just the smallest wyvern from all the creatures
