Thank you for watching my first gingerbread house! There are a couple of popular questions that I have been getting that I wanted to share with all of you! Will you make more? Yes! My kitchen is currently undergoing a reno, but once it is done I hope to make many more! Do you have the template? I didn't end up keeping this template but I hope to post templates for future houses. How long did it take? I worked mostly nights and weekends and it took about 3-4 weeks!

I live in Macon, GA. Hi. I loved this video but I have a question. When you glued the pieces down, are you using white glue like school glue or are you using something like royal icing?

This turned out amazingggg! One note I have though from other peoples homemade gingerbread houses. when you first are making the pieces you just score the outlines and then when they first come out of the oven and they are nice and soft, you cut them out entirely. This prevents the edges from burning.

Nicely done- well-planned and designed with an aesthetic that honors the material. Pretty but retains a sense of gingerbread, not all polished where it looks like ceramic. Many years ago, I made gingerbread houses for weeks during the holidays to sell at small regional shops. I must have made over 200 in those five years. Two things for anyone wanting to do their own. First, I used dry caramel to assemble the major pieces (dry caramel is simply melted white sugar). Unlike royal icing, it sets almost immediately so that things do not need to be buttressed. It takes a little practice, but so worth it. Second, color the royal icing brown to match the gingerbread for areas that might show and are not part of a snow detail. Much less glaring.

Wow good idea on using brown icing when patching them up! Too bad caramel won’t work for us that stay in tropical country, I used melted sugar one year and my windows became a pool of water in my gingerbread house after two days 😂 Very nice video and amazing work! Love all the details! ❤

Love this! I make architectural models in gingerbread with my husband every year, and our process is largely the same except we work from photos and figure out the height/width ratios from there. Will try sketch up! A few suggestions to make things easier that I learned by trial and error- use really stiff Royal icing for assembly and wipe the excess on the outside away with your finger or a damp cloth instead of scraping it when it's dry with a blade. Definitely bake first and cut windows while it's hot from the oven for crisp lines the first time. To square of edges on the other pieces I shave off with a very sharp bread knife or rasp to bevel sharp corners. Another great option for Windows is sheet gelatin as well, creates a crystal clear finish with beautiful "lead work"! Keep up the great work and enjoy 😀

Trick is to not cut the dough exact before baking. Cut ever slightly extra or a little overage to allow shrinkage during baking. You can always mildly file down to fit. Rather than not have enough.

This is amazing, it both inspires me to do this and makes me want to never do this haha. Beautiful work. Throughout this video they were applying the royal icing messy and then in my head I'm like no way is that going to look clean and like snow and then seconds later BOOM, gorgeous snow textures. This taught me that clean lines in certain areas make a huge impact, and you can let things be a little more free form in others and it will still make an amazing effect. The pine tree specifically I was like no way and then the next shot it looked like a real freaking tree. Love it!!!
