Their is absolutely NOTHING like hearing a pipe organ if this size. Opened up FULLY especially at the end. I sung in many elite choirs with my mom god rest her soul as she passed away from pancreatic cancer 2yrs ago. But the time we had together i know that this instrument and the french horn which she played for a while. Were her two favorite instruments. This is also one of my favorite pieces to hear on a pipe organ. And it was played to perfection...!!! Still gives me goosebumps every time i hear it.

I love it! Sometimes we get so caught up with what is proper and what is not in life that we forget that it is okay to let our hair down and just have some fun. I never would have thought that the mighty Tabernacle would be turned into a haunted music hall complete with fog machines, spooky lights and lightning. Dr. Elliott played the piece to perfection. Thanks for doing this it made my day.

Thank you Dr. Watts for your beautiful, thrilling gift. Rarely does one find the D. Minor so magnificently presented by an artist (who has it memorized I might add) and so professionally performed on one of Americas most exceptional organs that is known and loved by millions I am sure. I found your professional attire most excellent and appropriate. Thank you and Blessings. David Snyder, Lumierist ,Creator of Virgil Fox Heavy Organ Touring Production.

This popped up in my feed. My brother was one of the organists for the Temple Square concert series for over 20 years, playing 30 minute recitals at the tabernacle. He was obsessed with pipe organs since age 12. He built a house with a 2.5 story living room to accommodate his dream pipe organs since age, the largest in the state of Idaho at 91 ranks. He was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in mid January 2024 and passed away 2 weeks later. About an hour before he died I asked what he most wanted to do when he got to the other side. He replied he wanted to find a massive pipe organs since and play a certain Bach toccata and fugue. As he was laying there awaiting the end, barely conscious, we observed his fingers were moving. I realized he was playing the organ in his mind, already. Tonight marks 11 months since his being called to be a celestial organist.

I love how they managed to make this both haunting and spooky without it being profane or irreverent. It's a song that you easily associate with Halloween or villainy, but it is still appropriate for a hallowed hall. The imagery is very much suited to Halloween, but there is no reference to devilry or witchery or anything like that. In all, it's a presentation that captures the spirit of Halloween that Christ would still be comfortable having in one of his houses of worship.

Remember, JS Bach was a devout Christian and wrote music to glorify God. The common man may think of Halloween whenever they hear the into to this song but that does not diminish from the greatness of most all his works.

I was expecting some spooky frowning eyes to appear on the pipes at the end! Bravo, Brother Rick, BRAVO!! In your quest to make the organ less spooky, thanks for showing what spooky REALLY sounds like in the hands of a master organist. Can't wait to see what you come up with for next year... you know we'll be waiting, right?😎 I liked his acknowledgement of the organ before he started... he bowed his head. Usually acknowledges it after his organ solos when he takes his bow by touching the bench as he leaves.
