So happy to have Regicide Rumble back and was absolutely stoked to take part! As a viewer I already can't wait for the next one. *Spoilers below* Just to answer a few questions I've had pop up since this game: Am I disappointed? Yes and no. If I'd been offered 2nd place before the game I would've jumped on it, but by the time we were pushing the other alliance back I knew I was in with a real chance to win the whole thing. But I got greedy. Not for the money, but trying to get the glory of the kill on Valas as well, rather than focussing 100% on the ambush of Socksyy. I should've had more rams coming in from the north, and the group of mangudai which were hunting Valas (the same ones which were lost in the trees) should've been back at home. I think dividing my attention in those few minutes before Valas went down was what lost it for me, more so than the missed sniping attempts a little later on. Did I have thumb ring? I was certain I did at the time but started to doubt myself while watching the vod. Went back and rewatched my rec just to make sure and yes, I did have thumb ring. Rest assured that they are fully upgraded mangudai getting chewed up by Ethiopian siege onagers 11 Was it unfair to have two countrymen teaming up in one game? Nope, not in my eyes. Valas made no show of friendship throughout the whole game, despite our long alliance, and I believe the only reason he didn't roll over me was because Stefan put up such an amazing fight. Without Stefan's resistance, I think Valas would've won this game easily. As to why I turned on him before my army was properly home, he was already at my border with most of his army and was undoubtedly seconds away from switching me to enemy. Finally, as a semi-interesting note, because of the restarts on capture age some of the fun little statistics were lost along the way. I think that by the time Socksyy and I declared war on one another, it should've popped up saying war had come after over 2000 years of friendship

The goal in the beginning was just to chop all the wood on the map in peace and go for a 100+ hr game, but the missions change, they always do. -- Game spoilers below -- On the game result itself i'm honestly shocked that I won, I was expecting to get rolled one way or another at some point along the way. Seabomb and I had a long day suffice to say, we had to be ready for the match at 1:50 am for a 2 am start but ofc was delayed slightly, ended at around 4:30am for me. He definetly should have won this one, but i'm sure he was also suffering from the lack of sleep 11 shoutout to him for prepping for the back stab what looked like well ahead of time it was so very close to working out. If he also massed also say 10 trebs to back up his push, he wouldn't have needed to dive in with his mangudai, losing those to halbs was what saved me. Some general points on the game: I was lucky that I spawned next to Seabomb, he being mongols was the greatest threat civ wise in late game. On this map too, making an alliance with at least one of your neighbours is also a no brainer. I was hoping that SongSong would also join the alliance but alas it was not to be. As soon as SongSong was sniped it was pivotal that I went and took that space, it would be used for better potential trade profits in future and also a good area for production buildings. Instantly dropping the castle while maintaining alliance with Tetas led to me getting away with this cheeky little manoeuvre, 2 relics and the left over gold was also huge as in case trade was not on the cards then theoretically I should have a very solid position. Plans from then on were to bank up resources as much as possible and to only spam halbs and siege, who needs anything else with Ethiopians amirite? Initially I was hesitant on the trade as it is obviously a large investment but later on regarded it as a necessary gamble. My hope was that stefan and valas did not decide to ally one another just as we would kill grey and red, that would have just led into a 2v2, best we could do in my mind was to try timing it so illusionist and tetas died just as stefan was also on his last legs so I was relieved that it worked out really well, this led to a rapid kill on stefan and then valas. If worst came to worst and it did end up being a 2v2, plan B was a wonder victory and moving the trade along the top of the map. They would have needed time to set theirs up and personally I prefer the ethiopians and mongols civilisation combo, especially given our gold situation. During end game there it took quite some time before my brain came up with buying a castle for my king, was it 3/4 snipe attempts? and those mangudai from seabomb being left alone lost in the woods would have been pivotal in that inital attack, I think we were both about to go unconscious at that point however so the slip ups were inevitable i'd say 111 definetly made for some chaotic up and down moments at the very least. And yes, the voobly days prepped us Aussies well. The Euro server this was played on was almost 300 ping so a bit of a blast from the past for sure. 1111 ggs to all the players, it was an absolute blast to play and thanks t90 for running this event again and covering all the games, those were a long few days. I had a great time slowly watching the rest of the games throughout that week, looking forward to the next one!

It's funny how much more selfish but also short-sighted the higher level players are. They're more accustomed to beating people in 1v1's and very much seem out of their element. Guess diplo games really are just a different set of skills. Makes me want to see experienced diplo/community game players in a game with high ELO players.

im only at 1:33:44 but it seems like Valas genuinely had no idea seabomb and socksyy would be close, because he didnt know about the both australian thing and was super focused on the bottom not realizing the other 2 had been fighting alongside each other for over an hour. He was the odd man out but never realized it but damn what a G.

hey t90, i think we can add some function for queen for example, if queen dies of a player than he cannot use diplomacy, or some kind of trade reduction or decrease in worker efficiency, population reduction like instead of 200 after queen dies than player only has 180 pop. these are some of my ideas.

it's a rating system used to measure how skilled a person is relative to the competition. winning games increases your elo, losing games decreases your elo. generally the higher elo players are more likely to win, which is why there was a lot of rooting for seabomb, as he had the lowest elo in this game and thus being an underdog.

The way you make capture age better is to put the resources and info panel that is in the left near the bottom and leave it full size with all 8 players and move that to the bottom right, get rid of the chat and put the techs stuff on the top. Pretty much make it the same as the 3v3 capture age that you have been doing. That would be perfect. There even looks like there is room for 8 players in the 3v3 format already.

These high level players are god at the game itself, strategizing in team games with other high level players with voice chat. However... they are so bad at diplomacy and chatting in game. It's painful to see lol.
