Here at one of the best hiking trail scenery wise located in Oahu, Hawaii. Wiliwilinui Ridge Trail is gated inside a community about 20 minutes by car from Ala Moana Center.

The hike is approximately 4.5 to 5 miles round trip and takes 3 to 4 hours to complete. It might take longer, depending on if you want to take in the views and how good in shape you are. It is a challenging hike with many stairs. But it will all be worth it at the top!
TIPS:
1) Parking is free and you need a pass to get in
2) Do not hike here when it's raining! It's dangerous because the stairs are slippery and your shoes will cause erosion to the land. There will always be another day!
3 Remember to bring water, snacks, sun cream, and a good attitude

We just hiked this trail and the views are some of the best on the island! It felt so different having to go through the gated community and get a permit. Almost like asking for permission lol but this hike was totally worth it. Great video!

Oh wow I'm so glad you did this one because I was just looking into this hike. From what I read people said it's good for kids too but based on you video it seems pretty challenging for kids. You were out of breath the whole time! lol. For your next hike have you tried Schofield trail? It's not on the base but in the end of California Street in Wahiawa. Lots of guava trees so bring a bag to take some guavas home.

Hey Janeen. This is a great hike and I've done it 3 times. I've seen kids on this hike with their parents but I believe they stop right before the stairs. I only seen kids on the first half. It's quite dangerous for them and if it rains, I would worry. Haha I was out of breath too because it was in the hot sun in the afternoon:) LOL. I like that time because hardly anyone is there. They either go early morning or late afternoon. I haven't done the Schofield trail but I would do that with you and Leon for sure. I'll bring a bag for the guava:):)

I would love to see heart healthy foods for Hawaii I see musubi and poke all day long. Wonder what other alternatives exist on Oahu. Also price differences between Waikiki and other local spots like Kaneohe or Aiea would be good for travelers. Can't wait to return!

Hello, I'm from Mexico and I'm going to visit Hawaii in 1 week. Can I get to this place by Uber? Do I need the permit in that case? greetings

Aloha Eduardo from Oahu to Mexico! And yes.. you can get to this place by Uber and no you don't need a permit. You might have to get one just to get dropped off at the entrance but your Uber can just drop it off in the box you can't enter or leave the gated area without getting and dropping your permit. Worse case scenario.. you might just have to get dropped off at the Guardshack and walk up for 20 minutes but I doubt it🤙

Is it fine to walk in without a car? I would take the bus down Kalaniana'ole Highway and walk through the streets up to the trail head. Did the same thing for Kuliouou ridge trail.
